2 new maps. Sorry Elle T, I am far tooo tired to reupdate STR-Stairs and to add the KJ skin. Will do it for Version 4.0 though.

Version 4.0! You will need Version 3.0, as this is an upgrade package. There are unfortunately no new maps.

Hello Everyone,
I made a map for the stairs mod, I figured out how the camera system works and how to place everything in the map needed to make the mod work right.
However I do have a slight problem...
I thought I would add to the fun factor of this mod and design a level that would have you shoving the karma model on to a large peice of ice and having hime/her slide to the other end where there would be a hole in the ice and if the model went into the hole i would have a trigger in there to offer the player some sort of reward. The ONLY problem im having at this point is that the karma model will not slide on my ice, I made the volume a PhysicsVolume and set the everything up right, ( a regular player will slide in my volume, but not the Karma one)
Sooooo.... Im wondering if the author of this mod can help me out with that and in return I will give him a professional quality map to include in his next version of this mod -
ohh, also I set up a start area that allows the player to start the mod in a more professional and neat way... Now when the player starts in my map he/she will see a nice little Stairs logo.... it looks much better then just starting behind a set of stairs. Im an artist/designer I like to make **** look cool and im a virgo so i kinda like it nice and neat as well.
Ok well, James... Uh.. Solid Snake - Will you hook me up with the code that allows the karma model to slide around on Ice (Ground Friction) PLEASE!!

This is version 5 everyone! You need to have Version 4.0 & Version 3.0 for it to work properly. I am now doing stacked upgrades. The Version 6 upgrade will be back down to about 50-100 kb's I reackon, since I have taken the graphics outside the main package now. I should have done that before... sorry. I hate having to export so many files out, but oh well ... all for the sake for people who have 56 Kbps only [Me!!!]
A whole bunch of upgrades everyone. No new maps unfortunately, but I hope Hayden can help me out. Some new options for your guys to play with as well!

Yup, I've done that for you. If there is any other ideas that you have then send them my way, cos I am really running out of ideas here. Right for the ice part what you need to do is to zone it, and the add one of my Stairs_ZoneInfo. When you extend SceneInfo you will see a friction setting. The default value is 0.6
For ice you want to change this to a negative value. For real stickiness change it to a positive value. Careful with how high you set it tho, cos the hit detection is much more sensitive in Version 5.0!!!

wow that was fast... you do make this stuff like hotdogs... as soon as i get it all ready ill put a link up to the map here...
Im thinking that if the player makes the model into the ice hole, i will have a triggred texture pop up thats says "winner" or "you rock" or something like that.
one other thing that would be really sweet to add, (and im just being nitpicky) but do you think you can set up the player start to where the player cant move or turn their head, that way when they start the map they see this little logo i made and have no choice but to see it while the 3,2,1 countdown to play goes by...
after the (are these called matches or just maps?) match starts everything is back to normal...
simple stuff, great mod, real fun. I think it has huge potential for those who enjoy arcade-ish type games.

Ok I finished my first map...
Its name is STR-IceHole... This one is a little different then the others. You have a goal, get the karma actor into the IceHole.
Its real easy to do, my 4 year old can do it!
Make sure to turn your friction down to about -80 to get a good slide. If you make it in the hole it triggers a nice little hole in one reward. Its not much but it adds to the whole (no pun intended) experience.
Only one "normal camera" in this one as I could not figure out how to zone an area that has terrain. Maybe if James could look into having the volumes act as zone then I can do multi cameras outside in terrain areas.

Ha ha ha ha, man that is a GREAT map. I really like the Hole In One! thing, that's great! How did you do that? As you can see, I am no mapper. That is great stuff. Well since I am really wasted today, version 6.0 will be out soonish none the less. This version will have a few new options [if I can come up with them].
However, seeing this great map being made for my mod, has put this big grin on my face that I can't get rid of, so I am dedicated Version 6.0 to making sure that mappers get a lot more flexibility in what they can do! Camera functions, zoning functions and volume functions will be added in... I will try to think of as many as possible, but if you need any specific ones, don't hesitate to ask me now! If you catch me quick I will put it into Version 6.0 before I release it!

I would like to see a fixed player start and volumes be added....
the fixed player start would be better then a player starting behind a set of stairs... I fixed this in my map... but the player could still look around, so if you could make a player start that fixes the view before the start that would be cool...
other then that I need the volumes to work as zones do now for the cameras.
And just to give you an idea of what im doing next,
push the ragdoll in front of the train
and
push the ragdoll off the building (the trick is to make him land in the opened sewer hole in the sidewalk) (manhole) I dont know what you call it in NZ. :)
if you miss he splats on the pavment, if you make it in the hole there shall be another reward like in my last map.... maybe we can get together and work out a scoring system or somethign like that...
I like this mod and plan to help out in my spare time I also would like to make some other arcade type games using the unreal engine if anyone else is up to the task.

I have good memories of Porrasturvat, I made it into the top 10 there for a while and still have some screenshots lying around somewhere.
No UT2K3 here unfortunately so I can't get in on the fun myself, but I know a few others that would be interested.
Is it OK to link to this post and let the public have a taste?

I had a slight problem with my map at work today.... I think anyone who wants to play the map must have the latest patches, that or they must turn up themodel detail to highest... i dunno...

Hey everyone, Version 6.0 is here. Not a lot added, just a few options:
Music selection [the main menu music drove me nuts to make this]
Gib Slider [You can adjust how much gibs come out now, blood mode or dismember mode must be on]
Some minor bigs fixed.
I've done a few things for mappers, the starting view is now fixed [Thanks Hayden for pointing it out], new volume type created, you can mix and merge different physical properties & how it affects the ragdoll. Some new camera options/modes for mappers to play with.
Other than that ... that's about it. No new maps.
~50 kb download.

ragdoll mania has broken out, im sure you have all seen the ragdoll test in 3dmark2003, i think its catching...
The Havok physics engine is used to calculate the way that the trolls fall and tumble down the stairs in their suicide dives.
oh and ps nice mod, reminds me what i would would have done if i had a bucket of pigs blood dropped on my head at the school ball, reeeeenk reeeenk reeeeenk
brrr gives me the shiznits every time i see that movie :D

Got everything installed right, added server packages line..
Start the game, and the only function that works is space bar for menu.

[EDIT] Nevermind :) got it running, wasnt paying attention, and had a mutator running, LOL... Working on making a map for it now :D
[EDIT 2] My map is going along rather nice. :) Solid Snake, this mod is just awesome :) youve taken one of the best parts of the game and made something truely usefull and quite enjoyable of it.
Hope to have my map done soon.

Oh, is there any way to have a volume trigger camera changes?
Kinda like the volumes of DeathBall and the different characteristics they have...
Just a thought... Cutting a map into zones seems somewhat inneficient... Just a thought..

Yes. You must add into your UT2003.INI, in the EditPackages area, my mod package as well.
EditPackages=Stairs
This makes UnrealED load up my mod automatically. You can then use the Stairs Volume, which allows you to change a lot of things such as gravity, friction ... etc etc.

Me and my clanmate Insidious (same clan as NaMaNaX) are doing a map, which is very kewl atm. I'll post screenshots later.
Are you going to release this out to mod sites? I know it's been around a long time (I've had it a few months), but a lot of people have never seen it before.

Cool. It was meant to be released as a website, but I haven't been bothered. It is a rather small project which grew large in weird proportions and I have already got requests to do some more stuff which will be done soonish I think!

I love what you've done with the Porrasturvat mod btw, 'tis fun pushing Gorge down a flight of stairs :D. I can't wait 'till you, hayden, or anyone else releases another map.
