I was just considering buying a Alcatel Speedtouch Pro with one port and was wondering if it is alright.

At first i will just be using it with one computer, but i mite hook up a switch to it later.

I heard that to use things like DC and WinMX etc you had to pinhole. Is this true? If so how hard is it?

Thanks

Eclipse, until you can provide something constructive, STFU.

In all my experience with consumer level DSL products, I have found the Alcatels to be among the best, hell even the internal Alcatel DSL PCI modem spanked the Ni200 I had briefly. Not to mention that there's a very high probability that your card in the dslam is based on alcatel chipsets, and that alcatel holds a large amount of dsl patents...

Now then, to be CONSTRUCTIVE i will answer k14's questions:

you dont always have to pinhole

go here (http://www.nzdsl.co.nz/emulator/alcatelpro/) to see an online emulation of the pro's interface
and here (http://www.nzdsl.co.nz/howtos/Alcatel/alcatelpinholing.html) for a touch on pinholing

So it will still be sweet and easy to upload and download from DC hubs?

why not ask the guy you are buying it from for his experiences?

He said that he hasnt used it without a hub.

To my understanding you only had to pinhole if you werent hooking it up to a switch/hub.
