Hey? What do you mean ...you don't need a 3-phase motherboard to use 3-phase power! Basically it's like normal power with a larger fuse and a larger ampage, so we can have more pc's running off it without blowing up fuses and the likes.

You still use your standard 3 pin plugs. I think it's only 2-phase power that we normally use, since only 2 pins from that supply an AC voltage while the other is just earth ... correct me if I am wrong though,

or were you meaning something else?

Any student can get them for that price, just ask for a student card..... tru mates rates are the $4.80 each or so that you get them for when you work there :D:D

binkys pizzas range from 5 - 7 dollars depending on what sort of mood im in and what buttons i press first.

there are however only a few ppl that i would get 4.50 pizzas for tho :)

i could prolly see if i could get some sort of deal for a lan order, but it would have to be picked up and it would have to be from the store i work at, not any of the others...

Oh yeah, I forget to mention .... two 19" inch Proview monitors are for hire [price decided by KJ], the can support up to 1600 X 1200 if you got the stuff to power it...

I think they will be out for hire at around the $10-$15 mark for the entire lan ...

Pre-booking is needed and first come is first serve unfortunately. Also when pre-booking please please make sure you want it, because I think KJ will not be too happy if he brings around two pretty bulky 19" and the people who hired them say .... "oops ... I didn't want them after all..."

And what day is people free? I can do it next weekend but I won't be avaliable on the 7th of Sunday as I have to leave. We'll have to close up pretty early on Saturday if we do it on that weekend, something like 12 midnight. We can have a full day Friday though.

I need at least 10 people to come, then I probably which will make it cheaper. I think I'll charge people enough so that the charge on the place is covered, but I'll make it as cheap as it gets.

I'm suggesting 5th Friday @ 9 in morning till 6th Saterday @ 12 midnight. Hows that? At the moment our player list is :::

Well just got my second hdd, 80gb Seagate baracuda 7200rpm for $292 from

So in total got my old 30 gb seagate baracuda 3 7200rpm also which gives me 110gb in total:D Sweet so expect your Nics to be working twice as hard as they usually do when im there!!!

Well got my Netgear NIC on it's way. Cat cable organized. Money for HDD ready'n'waiting. Just got to finalize transport up and spending cash.

there is a full version beta of UT2003 floating around, it is single\multi player, and has around 60 maps, its approx 2.3Gb and is a 14 day trial.. selected betatesters got a copy :D

I dunno if you need training yet, as when i copied it onto dads machine it looked for the entry map instead of pipeline which was what I was hosting. When I joined the game I hosted on Dads I could join. So I'd say you have to but as I didn't install it on his machine it culd have done something

It may be a really simple hack. I remember in the original UT, you had to finish the game to get access to the boss model right? Not really, you could add in a line to your unrealtournament.ini file which would allow you to use that model, it could be the same... well, you guys hope anyways.

For those who missed the earlier part of the thread, I'm the guy who runs Virtual Magic. We have ohhhh, a few km of Cat5e, only about half is crimped tho, Few hundred metres of heavy duty extension cords, used to have a whole lot of spare power cables but they went walk about, along with our multi-boxes, but still have a few left. Might be able to get someone to drag along my PC for a server.
I wont be making an apperance myself, I get back at 5am Sat morning, and have to organize a few drinks for that night.
I'm in the market for a new Ti too, bugger it.. =P

Feel free to bring it.

You can route your cable through it, and sit it on top of your rig, making you feel more important :D.

But seriously - one of the biggest issues is people with short cables, so if you can put your switch near you with a long cable, then string a couple ( don't want to completely kill your bandwidth, now ;) ) of PC's of it with small cables - you'll save on the cable and positioning mess ;)

Seems I am the only one who has had a good nights sleep, It was a good lan. Once again Sof2 was the most played game of the lan with some 12 player Warcraft 3 games also.

I also believe the OCNZ crew owned in SOF2 and most of the time the scores had about 3-4 OCNZ guyz up the top.

Only problem I had was when I was hosting a game and 6ppl were accessing my machine, so in addition to the 8ppl already playing it totally screwed up the server giving evry1 huge lag

Was a great LAN,

I sucked in every WC3 game I played but it was still awesome fun even though I got hammed by Binky, Brutus and the like....

Our StylesPC stand did ok considing most people didn't even know we were gonna be there. So make sure everyone to support us at the next LAN :) that way there will be more prizes for you to enjoy such as that nice Alu case :D

SOF 2 was good, but I prefered the smaller indoor maps rather than those huge outdoor sniper levels. *Looks at CommanderK*

I was also pleased with the speed of the network using the two new 32 port switchs :P

Pizza was all good, I shared a Apricot Chicken with nXus.. so tasty :)

yea... and did everyone see my leet water cooled beast? I lost count of all the people checking it out and taking a closer look :)

Hey, well yeah L3 #6 was a success and was all good. I was owning in SOF2, it was usually me or go dam Mrm THC he was starting to piss me off. Anyway they were seet games, loved the outdoor maps at night were ya could put on the old thermal vision!!:D
Warcraft 3 was hell sweet as well, but got to play it more to get used to the new style of play (too used to starcraft):p

Just in case anybody cares:

A total of 45 people came to L3#6, with the busiest period ( surprisingly ) being the Friday night, when there were over 40 people on the network at once.

Little was determined in terms of Strategy Game 0wning except that Binky Stunt Cat and Brutus appeared to have Warcraft III sewn up and twisted round their little pinky's.

FPS's ( SOFII mainly ) were ruled pretty harshly by [OCNZ], with SerN, Sydog, TheChosen1, KingJackal and MrTHC ensuring that the competition was well down the charts. Though honourable mentions from my observations have to go out to Sumo, CommanderK, Greivous and Jeeves, who certainely made our job harder.

3-phase power gear that was hired was an immense success, and turned out to be cheaper than anticipated. We may be bringing two splitter boxes to the next event if the demand is there. We have also duely noted the shortage of tables and network cables, and will be on top of that for the next LAN.

Also, we're finally not loosing money! We broke even and even made a bit - so while investments are far from paid off ( heh, understatement ), we will definately be able to guarantee the hiring of sufficient power and networking gear in the immediate future if growth continues.

...ah well, the last bits and pieces are coming together for #7 - so I'll be starting the planning for #8 very soon ( sometime in September - should be school holidays too ;) ).

Thats good to hear that L3 is breaking even when it ocme to money matters. Means we are finally getting enough people going, keep coming guys. Yeah tables were all full up, so that is definitley something to have to look into.

Sorry guys thats fault on my be-half. It IS taking longer since for one, the site has to be optimized by King Jackal for CSS so we shave maybe 1-2 Kb's, and then further refined by me to suit people who are on 800 X 600 and on 1024 X 768. It's funny how developing for full screen 1280 X 1024 can really make me ignorant to people with smaller screen resolutions.

Hopefully it'll be up in 2-3 weeks time, given on how busy KJ or I am.

Good LAN tho guys... but will someone please remind me to sleep more than an hour next time. i got about 30mins out of Chch heading back to dunners and i had to stop and sleep... and it's fecking cold at 5am in the morning in a car :/

Oh and next time i might even have got round to modding my nice plain mid tower case :p Rather than just hanging hdd's out the side as ones does :p

It is L3 property so it gets hired on every lan occasion.

I'll notify KingJackal on your hire of one for the next one, although I do ask that you are absolutely certain you want to hire one, because KJ will get annoyed if he brings them [total of 2 atm] over and then the person who booked says ... "oh .. uhm... dum de dum".

No I'll definitely take one. KJ will know, at #6 I was stuck on my sad little 15", so 19" of viewing goodness will make my lan. That and it'll mean one less thing I have to try and transport up from Timaru. Is it $10? And is the lan going to be $15? Because I would like to pre pay if that's possible so I don't have to worry about it at the time.

The monitor hire is $10 for L3 #7 [it usually varies since it depends on people coming, so if a lot of people come it will be a lower charge].

I will think L3 #7 will be $15 on it's own. Pre booking is good :D We likes very much. Check back on KJ for those prices, but I think he will confirm those.
