ok
basically i jumped the gun on choosing a new mobo for christmas, (i was originally going to get a ga-7vrx, but they were replaced by the ax) and just got a ga-7vaxp without reading any reviews.

then when i opened the box, lo and behold no socket mounting holes (goodbye liquidcc waterblock plans).
so im thinking this isnt really a bad thing, but then when i finally got it going and all setup, the bios started to annoy me, not really a very overclock friendly bios.

now i have been looking for about a week and still cant find a board i would like
basically i need

sata connectors (buying a cuda v later on)
kt400
not brown pcb, preferably red
a nice oc friendly bios
SOCKET HOLES!!

i was looking at the epox nforce 2 board, and that looked very tempting indeed, but i have yet to find a place to sell me one
oh yea, also would be nice not to break $350 :)

Just Get an A7N8X Deluxe
You won't regret it ;)

The extra $$$ is worth it IMO, this board flat out ROCKS

those shiny asus nforce 2 boards are only $360 if you want to stretch your budget a bit, otherwise i would live with what you've got till the epox arrives (or import one).

ive been talking to dc, he might be selling me his epox 8k5a3+
unfortunatly it doesnt have sata nor is it a kt400 board.
i doubt the lack of kt400 matters though, as i will be running pc2700 on it anyway.

the board does have a few things i like though, the extra dimmslot, the nice overclockability and stability, the green pcb and it has socket holes!!

and especially for the price he is offering :)

Hmm...I want a mobo that allows me to use my waterblock and tygon also...so if someone wants to buy my board, as they want to buy Poisons (as new price of course, as we both have only had these for mere days) and then we can go for the mega nforce2 boards...

Come on guys, dont you love us?

:D

Im with Silver on this one, this board is bootylicious.
Its freaking fast, has heaps of features, the onboard sound spanks my monkey something wicked, and it has the mounting holes.

Im only sorry that its brown p1eb0y, and well...

Oh pish, It just clashes terribly with my video card! Gosh you know what, lets just go and buy a new motherboard based on colour and to heck with the features! And lets go find some burly men to ream us in the ass while we're at it! *giggle*

i was thinking of selling mine for around $200 on the forums.
these boards would seriously make freakin awesome server boards, its just so goddamn stable at stock settings(like most boards  )

oh and harls- blow yo interior designer out yo ass :D
the green of the epox board will go with my green nic pcb, my green cathode, my green mouse led, my green lcd backlight....

The performance of the nforce2 boards is clearly superior to that of the KT333 or KT400 boards...

At the moment there's really no reason to not get a nforce2 based board.. unless 1) your budget doesn't stretch that far or 2) you're waiting for a bit of time to pass so any possible bugs in the bios, hardware and drivers are fixed..

make freakin awesome server boards,
dunno, most consumer boards fall over alot when placed unfer long term heavy load, thats why tyan and such can seel a board with the less features for twice as much and still sell heaps of em

If the epox one is out when my funds arrive i'll be getting that. mainly because its cheaper, oc's better but the only down thing is no dual lan or sata - i've got two spare nic cards anyway and both boards have the same onboard sound

And if ya got guts u could voltage mod it to get over 200mhz fsb 235 was hit in one guide, or you could wait for the next revison from epox that will allow you to tweak the VDD by the bios

plus the left over $$ by getting the epox will go towards buying something like this for sata

but since u need one now i say go for the A7N8X Deluxe

Epox won't be in here anytime soon, not till they've cleared out all the old stocks. Thus, A7N8X seems to be the way to go.

the epox also shares sound inputs/outputs.... ie speaker out is also mic in etc ... this may or not be a problem depending on what you do with your box..... swapping cords all the time would get on my wick...

If I was to get a board it would be either the Epox(6 PCI slots is tempting) or the A7N8X(just cos it got EVERYTHING) :D

actually what I really want is a dual board or at least a board with 66mhz/64bit pci slots with 166fsb...... come on AMD replace the damn MPX chipset..... *****s :)

lol why is b i t c h on the naughty word list.....???

Sadly, I doubt AMD would be making a new MP/MPX board for the Socket A
More than likely their resources are being poured into the hammer series :(
Pity, would've been nice to have a third party AMD MP chipset option.

Agent666

yeah I agree most likely wont happen ... but how hard would it be for the likes of nvidia to add a chipset with support for even just one 66mhz/64bit pci slot for a nice big raid controller.... imagine the A7N8X with a separate 66mhz/64bit bus.... yummy.... *slaps self out of dream*.....
Maybe if the barton MP chips are released @ 166fsb a board will follow from AMD....

well if you're really keen you could always butcher a board and add in a turbo PLL :)

Is this the supliers or the retailers?
