View Full Version : Win2k Boot Logo?
Now this doesn't exactly bother me that much, but it does.
I realise that when it shows that white Win2k logo my screen only refreshes at 60hz which I can't stand, even for a few seconds.
Is there anyway to get this upped?
Thanks :)

Good advice, not that anyone really sits there and watches that, no offence if you do but that just 'aint my cup of tea ........... 'hey my pc reset itself due to high fsb speeds and rediculously low vcore voltages .... oh no boot screen @ 60hz .... lets do something else...'

I think you will find that it's 640x480 60Hz, because that is the resolution in which safe mode works. If you managed to change it and had a problem with your video card, you may find you can't do anything in safe mode because you couldn't see anything.
All video cards seem to support that mode, and thats why it is chosen. I think it would be best left alone.

5 minutes! He has to do a re-install, win 95 should only take 1-2 mins for loading Win 95.

oh yeah man his pc was clogged with all kinds of sh*t. he had about half a meg of space left out of 2gig I think his old hdd was.
But now he got a gay Piece-C Company pos (ought to kick him in the balls for a bad choice, overpaid for it by about $1000). gay screen, gay case, gay everything. Even his cdrw stopped workin after 2 weeks and so did the printer after a month. hahaha the worst pc manuf. that ever dealed in NZ.

LOL.
i sit infront on this box of mine for 10-12 hrs a day, nearly every day and i'm @ 65Hz... it has never bothered me. i seldom get headaches, and when i do it's usually caused by something else. i have worked on other workstations with much higher refresh rates (100Hz+)for long periods of time and although i did notice the difference, i have no problem going back to 65Hz. i'd rather have the extra screen real-estate than higher refresh rate.
but that's just me i guess...

i just can't handle much below 75Hz now, but preferrably 85Hz
Why dont you change your boot logo so that it doesnt have much white in it
Therefore making it so you cannot tell as much that the refresh rate is so low :)
Colour doesn't change the effect for me.
I can tell straight away if the refresh rate is too low for my liking.
And I haven't encountered a way to change the Win2k boot logo yet anyway. :)

On my monitor (Sony Multiscan G220) i run 1280 x 1024 @ 85Hz and its brilliant... 75Hz is fine... but i must say 60Hz really burns me i cant stand it!

WTF? how on earth could you tell if the screen was black?? easy fixed imo, good idea Torn. :)
i've done it before (changed the boot logo) but the 16 colours is really limiting. most of the boot logos look wicked but when you put them on they look like crap.
