I downloaded that this morning.
What a god damn waste of time, what the hell was I thinking - a trailer for a benchmark? My downloading standards have gone to the dogs...
Its 5MB's of a flythrough of 3 meters of corridor ending in the futuremark logo. woo.

I just know that its going to get some people over excited eh "OMG NEW 3DMARK!!1" and then they'll go into analysing what the trailer 'means', and what it could contain.

I'll stop now before I give myself a heart attack.

phew looks like i didn't miss much then :p

a trailer for a benchmark is pretty sad, lol. still it will be interesting to see just what 3dmark 2003 looks like. games have only just superceded the standard (graphics wise) of 3dmark 2001 so it'll be interesting to see what we'll have in a few years time. that and i'm totally sick of seeing the 3dmark 2k1 benchies... ;)

What is the big deal with a new version of 3dmark every couple of years? Why can't benchmarks just be done with the one version - I mean the scores would be through the roof, but at least the scores would be comparable - from my understanding the scores between versions of 3dmark aren't at all comparable.

the main reason i believe is because of the developing DirectX technology and associated new features included in each new release.

3dmark99 is a DX6 benchmark, 3dmark2000 is a DX7 benchmark, 3dmark2001 is a DX8 benchmark, and futuremark (or whatever it's called) is a DX9 benchmark.

Yeah well, I never thought of that... Surely though, even if each new version is run on a new DirectX, there is a way to make the scores between versions comparable?
