OCNZ game server update

20gb 5.4k rpm hdd
abit kg7
nic
atx midtower
firegl pro 1k (it'll do :p )

and I just organised to buy a tbird 1200 (oc's to 1500)
which means we need RAM!
I have a 128mb ddr stick, but its poked and i have to give it back to THC to get it rma'd, I can buy a 256mb stick of pc2100 for $100, so:

but i do want to see some quake 3 on it, and battlefield. yes definantly battlefield.

this server needs a gig o ram, so cram it with what yo got! :D

i can get hosting on 100mbit connection free 24hours the only thing is it will be called something else but you guys we have control entirely of the server bar its name....... but hey its free

something bad = no quake 3 :eek:
no quake 3 = me having to play on the bs jetstream server
me having to play on jetstream server = laggy
laggy = lack of playability thus dragging the [OCNZ] name down...

i think it shows that quake 3 will be mandatory on this server :p

you get lag on jsg? I get like 50 ping, orginal idea was for this server to run bf, which is why its hi spec'd, hel a p3 500 makes a good q3 server

What roughly would the min specs for bf1942 game server be? Im looking at using my old rig for a canti uni bf/ut2003 server.

64 player: 2GHz+, 512MB, T1 connection

Don't remember the 32/24/16/8 player specs off the top of my head. Needless to say it's bloated :(

Hmm got a 1.2ghz which has 256 currently but could be stretched to 768 with a new mobo, or 512 on its current, guessing it wouldnt be a heck of a lot of use, maybe for a 32 but I doubt that.

the ocnz server when it gets running will be a 1.2ghz@ 1.5, with 256mb pc2100, which should be enough for a 24 player server

The average person here only really plays BF1942. Me? I play MOHAA, and although I'd love the server to run that, its not feasable...nor is it for RtCW, as much as the people on here play it, although more so than MOHAA I feel.

You all knew it was to be BF, and the best thing is, you will be able to have your ass kicked by me!

we have free hosting, moose was slow in replying, but helix wireless came to the party and offered us hosting, so anybody lucky enough to be in auckes and connected to helix can have insanely low pings

Well if you've ever BEEN on the Paradise T1 Server, you'll know when it was up.. there were quiet alot of ppl playing it. Maybe not early on in the day, but certainly at 4pm + there were always at least 10 ppl or more on the server.

no, there is no need, sure you'd love to have an [OCNZ] UT server, but I doubt you'd have trouble finding an spot on a ut server, and since there is no active UT div, there is no need to use it for team practices, scrims or tournement games, on the flipside we have a full BF div, need to have practices, scrims, and tournement games... see it makes sense
