what price you looking at, and do you need to sell or buy?
I found the internet hopeless when searching for a car, nothing beats Trade And Exchange.

searching for a
1994 Subaru WRX Hatch
must be under 16K

Trademe (http://www.trademe.co.nz) has alot of car auctions I think, try there, also think the buy sell exchange website (http://www.buy-sell-exchange.co.nz) will have some

16K, wow, aren't they like 8-10K? for a 94.

A friend of mine got a Subaru Station wagon from 92, good condition for 3K$. Wasn't stolen.
My Holden was 4K$ and it's from 92.

Don't bother going to car markets or auctions, both are a rip off.
The best place is Trade and Exchange, get it early on thursday, and ring up and arange to look at it ASAP, or else you won't get it. Or pu a wanted add which is free.

If you're willing to import, you could try

http://www.tau-net.co.jp/

and http://www.xe.net/ucc/ to convert the currency :D

they're not all damaged cars, you can get some pretty sweet used cars there to :D

k, I don't know much about Subaru's, I'm a bigger fan of the Evolution.

BTW, since you are getting such a high performance car, where are you gonna race it?

www.autobuy.co.nz is worth a look.

What about insurance? Usually turbo + restricted licence = no insurance.

On the streets like everyone else, I know all the kids are doing it, Paul Holmes told me so! ;)

hehe,

>>as iv only got a Restricted License

so? As long as you don't speed too much with other people in the car you'll be fine. I give heaps of people rides during the day, and when I'm by myself I have fun, :D :D

don't forget that the most stolen cars in Auckland are WRX's and Evo's.

>>What about insurance? Usually turbo + restricted licence = no insurance

more like, GT + under 25 = no insurance.

I got my car registered under my dad and the insurance is under his name, that way the insurance is cheaper, but the access is still the same. :)

I bet you didn't tell the insurance company that :p

Unicorn

N, your insurance may be cheaper, but does it give you any cover?

If you have mislead the insurance company, your premiums may be wasted money - if you claim and they detect anything untoward they will not pay out, and you risk never being able to get any insurance again. I know an assessor, and he looks pretty closely at any claim where a car has a young driver look about it but and older driver insurance policy.

If your dad has declared you as the main driver then you are probably okay - and doing it that way is usually cheaper than insuring in your own name.

LOL. yeah dude, that's commonly known as fraud

but it's okay... that's what i used to do :D

_N_
14-06-2002, 08:56 PM
well, when we signed up for insurance, my dad was the main driver and I was a secondary, we said like 60/40%. But i drive it all the time.

mird-OC
14-06-2002, 09:09 PM
yeah, in other words, you lied = fraud :D

_N_
14-06-2002, 09:31 PM
no, more like twisting the truth, ;) :D

it is made so that I can still get the insurance on it, but cheaper than it would have cost us,

it had a couple of scratches and a couple of dent's, but the rest of the body was fine. The engine also seemed OK.

i hope you have a lot of money, for the insurance (state etc will laugh at you, nac will cover you, but it will cost a lot).

for new synthetic oil every 5000k's (a must with turbos if you dont want them dying)

and for fuel (96 min, 98 is best)

Insurance sucks when your under 25 (is it?), have a car that isn't factory standard (even if its a POS), and want to have insurance under your name.

National Auto Club (NAC) was the only one that would cover me, but as fatsanchez mentions, it comes at a cost. The first year, was almost 1/5th of my cars insured value! (It was also the first year of me having insurance). Its dropped a bit now, but not that much, so much I keep thinking if its even worth it. NAC also wanted to be paid for the whole years insurance in one go, or over 6 months to which apparently they add interest. To save hassle, and plus the fact I don't have a cheque book (they wanted 6 post dated cheques if choosing the 6 month option), I decided just to pay the full amount each year in one go. Sucks.

Weird thing is I enquired for insurance on other cars that are are around two to three times the value of my current car, and the insurance prieum actually wasn't that much more expensive considering how much more the other car would have been.

heh, insurance sucks - ever thought of 3rd party? As long as ur not a fool and really total ur car its normally an OK way to go, especially if u know ur way around cars. Or you can also go for that special insurance trouhg a broker or watever that just insures it when its not moving :) - prob a good idea for a Subaru...

One would hope you would get an alarm befitting the car.
Steal Shield would be the ones i recommend.
Something like this model (http://www.bignoise.co.nz/steal/ss900.htm).
A lot of our lads have had this one installed, and it flat out kicks ass :)
Not to mention its quite fun :D
Sitting upstairs and starting the car as people go past is most amusing :D

insurance companies are such a crock. in this day of political correctness shouldn't what they do be considered age'ist discrimination?

I always wondered about that and all their adds about woman getting cheaper rates etcetce

I only have 3rd party on my motorbike (GPX 250) and on my car (Fiat Abarth 130TC) - so far im ahead on my motorbike, the money the insurance company wanted to insure it first party would have cost me more then its value by now!!

asanthadenz - dont get a r33, get a r32, they look betta, and u can pick up a gts one for heaps cheaper than that. They go just as fast and dont have the stupid plastic bodykit all over them.

well, what do u want? 4 seats? 2 seats? coupe? sedan?
i would say ur best bet would be with one of these - skyline, WRX, rx-7, mitsi GTO, but it all really depends on wat u like.
Are you brave enough to import one urself? U can get stuff damn cheap - i saw a 600hp GTR V spec Skyline for only $39k - now thats a deal!

Sydog

Dont get the r32, if that pic is from the exact car then get that. At least it won't be as popular as a fu><ing r32

As one of my mates said

Skylines are like a clit, every c**t has one

Anyway he was refering to the r32's that u see everywhere.
