Wow, I was looking for 'other' reviews on RAM, and I came across Corsairs (http://www.corsairmicro.com/main/nreviews.html) collection of the reviews done on their products...and up the top was OCNZ. I felt so PREOWD!
That is all.

Ram review updated with Samsung PC-2700 and Crucial PC-2700.

Grrr!!

The RAM guide is starting to become a nice complete overview now :)
Here is our coverage:
PC 2100
Corsair Value Select
Crucial ECC Registered
Kingston ValueRam
TwinMos PC-2100
PC 2400
Kingmax DDR-300
PC 2700
Corsair XMS-3000
Crucial PC-2700
Kingmax DDR-333
TwinMos PC-2700
Samsung PC-2700
PC 3200
Kingmax DDR-400
That's 11 modules in total. Now we run into a problem. What next? We seem to reviewed all the modules in NZ market now. Anyone got a suggestion?
Grrr!!

What brand are the "generic" modules that Starlyte sells???
Grrr!!
26-07-2002, 04:34 PM
;) Yeah. I should.
I only supposed someone would know.
And I'm still waiting for a reply from a monitor enquiry to them.
Updated again with the Corsair XMS-3200.

very nice round-up hans. had loked at it b4 but only skimmed cos i had sdram then :p
i have a stick of Corsair PC2100 value select and also a Kingmax pc2100 valueram chip, and i can only hit 152 fsb stably with crap mem timings...
now i know why :p
:)
grr, vendors "generic" chips tend to be whatever is cheapest at the time. theres not really much point in asking unless its at the time of pruchase.

Hans - re: the A-Data, the Winbond chips are BH-5 not HB-5 - HB is for pencils.......... ;)

Slaps head... will change that. thx
I've heard of V-data, but not A-data?
Where did you get these modules from?

/jumps on the pedantic tosser bandwagon
This paragraph is slightly wrong too
In the PC-3200 age, the WinBond BH-5 chip seems to be the next CTL-CB3. (Corsair are using this chip, hand picked, for their XMS-3200 module)
Corsair XMS-3200 uses Winbond 6ns chips
The new XMS-3500 uses Winbond 5ns chips like the Adata ram does.
Updated with Mushkin Enhanced 3200 and Transcend PC-2100.
Think that's pretty much all the ram modules on the market now.
A good review.
I would have to agree and back the Corsair XMS stuff all the way. I have never had better memory. I can run TopPerformance & agressive settings on my GA-7VAXP with the stick at default 2.5V without a single memtest86 error... Great stuff!

Looking foward to when the XMS3500 gets added.
Any ideas on what board you'll be moving to Hans? Also I have a couple of sticks of XMS2400 if you want to borrow them for a week and add them just pm (at the mo they're just sitting doing nothing til my new mobo/cpu arrives.
