When you say cheap, exactly how cheap do you mean? The XP1800+s are a cheap processor compared to an XP2200+, but not compared to a Duron....
( though they're obvously also faster than the Duron and slower than the XP2200+ ;) )

Well, you can get a whole lot of CPU for tree-fitty!
Personally I would get the XP1800+ T-Bred. Only about $160. Save the rest for better sounds or put it towards more RAM, etc...

NFC have T-Bred A's, but someone here had a bad experience with NFC. If I remember correctly they sent him a Palomino instead of a T-Bred A. :p Understandably he was mighty pissed off. ;)

I think Rob @ StylesPC (http://www.stylespc.com/contact.asp) can get the 1800+ T-Breds at the moment

well that was strange.
after emailing heaps of ppl who all said "No, we don't have Tbred 1800+'s" i had resigned myself to getting a palomino.
I amble into QMB after having a hell of a lot of trouble finding my way across auckland to get there, and then finding a car park. I order 2 sticks of PC2100 RAM, an 1800+ CPU and a 300w Hyena power supply. It'll do the job for a month or two till i get a new one. I pay my $419.63.
Have a quick glance at the CPU as i put it in my glovebox for safekeeping on the journey home. Hang on, its got a rectangular core. Have a read of the code - AIUGA 0242XPAW - and realize its a Tbred. Well ain't that just cool. Apart from the fact it was the cheapest 1800+ in NZ at $154.13 inc GST, i get the CPU i need in the finish anyway.
So, if you go and get an 1800+ from QMB, you might just get lucky :D

I hope you kept your recept as Hyena are well known for blowing up & frying the rest of your system.

As I said, it will do the job for a month or two till i get a new power supply. It's just I was on a tight budget parts wise, and couldn't afford the $140 odd for a better power supply.
