no more crack for griffin...
first socket was for 486.. it was big gay and blue.... then there was socket 3 for 486.. wasn't gay worked well, then socket 5 for pentium classic, and socket 7 for VRE P55C's and MMXs Pentiums (doensnt look any different to socket 5 to me).... then super socket 7 which had 100mhz bus (but still didn't look any different to socket 5) and socket 8 wen the realised the was no point in only using odd numbers.
actull super socket 7 came out after socket 8

really ? most oems use the good chips, the one in my old flatmates HP would do 233 @ default voltage, which was as high as his board supported
EDIT: do you mean predecessor to SLOT 1 ?

i haven't seen many classic P166s make it much past stock speed... MMXs are damn good tho. i had a P166MMX @ 250 once... didn't even break a sweat :p
