Has anyone else played it??
I got told when i got it that it was quite buggy. The only thing i find buggy is the sound, but i fixed that, put some mp3s into the mp3 folder for the game, change the radio station to MP3 PLAYER in the car and your sweet as :D

i've had it for about 3/4 days, havent stopped playing it really. Apart from toilet and coffee stops :P

I havent seen the PS2 version but the PC version has to be better by far (bournvita)(sp?) :D :D

i assume it rocks, only thing i have against it is LACK OF MULTIPLAYER!! naargghhhhhh

well, i had the .iso images for it, then i installed xp and then half an hour after that my bios went to hell....
been like that since monday.

back on topic, i played the ps2 version, i was like "this game is ta hell as, cant wait for multiplayer pc action"

then they announced it..

get fraps just do a google search.

and the best advice I can give to everyone is

TURN FRAME LIMITER ON.

Although it will only give you 30fps it means it wont jerk even if u r getting around 60fps

The thing was horrible when I installed it.

First of all I had to hunt for that XP hotfix just to get textures displaying properly (go figure, nVidia card in windows XP and it has bugs, you'd think this would be one of the FIRST things they'd beta test it on)

The thing can lose textures and takes a while to load everything in game, with missing buildings and that for the first minute or so. Very frustrating. The sound stuffs up sometimes. And It gets very jerky in places (tho it doesn't matter if I'm using AA or anything, not the video card).


So yeah. Buggy as hell and I'm looking forward to a patch. But very fun in the mean time, so I'll forgive it

yea i've seen a fair few of the bugs. sound was out of sync when i first played it but it seems to be ok now? dont know why since i havent even restarted the comp. its a little slow on my GF2 GTS and Duron 1200 (using the duron temporarily since my tbird is on loan with my ka266+) but still very playable. i've got it running 800x600x32 so i think i might turn that down....

I had GTA3 on PS2 its pretty sweet, I sold it though for how much I bought so didnt lose any money, anyway I cant wait to get it off SYdog should be sweet. Im really disappointed in its lack of multiplayer, I was hoping to be playing it at LAN's

most problems with graphics and the "hotfix" can be solved by d/l Direct X 9. Fixed most of my graphical problems just fine.

I played gta1 on pc fer ages - have gta2 on PS, then it went missing fer over a yr - just a month ago my brother said he had it - doh. So i havent even really played gta2 - must get it back...

Well, on my Duron 1089, GF2 MX, 128mb RAM in 1024X768X32bit I get acceptable speed, could be faster, but not much, my main problem is hard drive accesses slowing the high speed driving. All I need is more RAM and that game will go Jesus-style.

u sure its greyed out? i had trouble cos i was trying to click on it which does nothing. you have to select it and then press the side arrows or roll the mouse wheel.

I have a racing wheel, and I will probably never use it for ang GTA at all. Keyboard is real easy to use, and means its easy to go back to mouse/keys during 3rd person

hmm i downloaded that patch, to fix the menu prob, but yes the resolution is greyed out?

Load up GTA3 and go into display settings , viola. You can't change the rez when you have started a game. You can only change it when you load gta3

With my 1ghz Duron and meh gf3 Ti 200 128mb I'm running it fine at 1024x768 32bit... couple of slow downs when there is massive carnage on screen but pretty smooth.. GTA III must depend on the vid card alot... as opposed to how Dungeon Siege is a cpu hogging beast.

*Looks* at althon XP prices again.. mm they're coming down nicely.

I just did 100 taxi missions and got that Borgan Taxi or whatever its called.

Almost finished the IE Garages but I need a Mr Whoopee Van so I gotta do some more vigilante missions

Found 28 / 100 Hidden Packages so far...

there are three, just do the main storyline missions (eg with the big letters). Once you've finished the mafia missions you will go onto Staunton Island.

i jst scrolled down to the madonion's site, and checkec out their gaming section of the forum, and man did i see a lot of post relating to problems on their GTA3,

like the game's not loading, game running choppy etc.

this really shows tht u need a top gaming rig to play these great games,

wonders what problems DOOM 3 and UT2003 would cause on ppl wif Low End Rigs.

Man this game rockz...Im upto the part where you have too blow up the ship with eightball...had too do it twice damm expensive bomb at $100,000 and ya only get $150,000 for doing it. Oh well awesome game, very addictive.

Cool Game, was a real mission to get working tho, had to get thos patches and stuff for XP (i know ,i know!)

Its pretty slow tho, Defragging Sped things up a little, but yeah the game is really buggy, like at the moment, i cannot change resolution....or fatal BSOD, or if say....i want to quit the game?...no way fatal BSOD.

aint that the truth!, ive got a GTS too, and once you get to staunton isl it starts getting really slow.....have to use taskman and shutdown all processes (including explorer) and launch using 'run'.

So i currently love and hate this game.......:-/

thats why i downgraded from XP to 98se, iv only got 256mb Ram and XP really eats up your ram when u play a game like GTA3.
I will only upgrade to XP once i get 512mb's of ram or more.

I average about 45-50FPS on 800X600X32bit. Settings set to Optimum.

LoL well im running a geforce 1 ddr 256 and thats goin fine :) in all islands maybe my rig is keepin it running sweet tho meh dunno but the gfx card sure isnt having probs i dont frame at all:)


PS PHAT game hehe gettin 5 stars is hard tho coz they have limits in each city i mean on a good day in the first island i camped on the monorail lines downed 1247 citizens 279 cops and 32 choppers and still cant get over 3 stars hehe now im in the next city im railing fbAIIII agents :) its alot more fun:)

I used one cheat, giveusatank. Only to try and get the bulletproof cheetah in the diablo's turismo mission. Although I already could get the tank from that one armed guy on the second Island I needed one that wouldn't dissapear

hell sweet game, Im running a gts and im running at 800*600 32 bit and slows down in staunton island as well, but ive been playing this game for ages, just so god dam addictive. Im up to where you got to take ray to a plane as he has to catch it in the third city, and also where ya got to blow up all the espresso stands that the columbians have. :D

done a couple of kill frenzies

good game but it has weird problems on my comp. goes really slow for a start (Tbird@1200, GF2 GTS, 512mb ram, win2k) and i dont think it should be slow cos my comps not that bad...? i stopped playing cos it was so slow. resolution made almost zero difference.

Try using fraps. just do a google.

If you are actually getting good fps then its not the rez, try turning frame limiter on. Also change frame sync as well, see what happens

To get 100% you have to do al the little extras and I mean all of them. Thats every single mission, all the rampages, all the packages, all the off road missions. 100 TAxi missions, 75 ambulance missions, 20 fires in each island and 20 vigilante missions in each island. There are probably more things I have forgotten.
