OCNZ Game server

A few of us reckon its time to put together an OCNZ game server / BF server.

So its begging time!!

If any of you can contribute in hardware or conectivity then please post here, Haris will keep a running total.

some one to look after / run / administer / be in charge of the server would also be needed. For this I nominate Wibber.

I can lend the cause the following till a bit after ANZAC day or possibly longer if things turn out that way.

POS Case
350 enermax PSU
Cd writer and DVD
and a floppy drive

If, and thats a bigass If, we want an Abit KG7 RAID as the motherboard, I will donate it to the cause.

Whatever people cant donate, I can get pretty cheaply. However I dont really want to foot the bill for a gig of RAM if you know what I mean. ;)

well I just sent whetu 256M of pc133 for the dc server. I could also chuck in a maxtor 30 gig dm60+ for a game server too.

I NEED to drop the above stuff minus case to someones place tonite, preferably someone trustworthy who isnt going to steal it!!

hmm ok, methinks we might wait on the kg7 as an sdram is king monkey cheaper, and ppl are more likely to have some lying round.. I got a vid card and 128mb (of not much use unless desperate) sdram, we only need a 24 player server so were looking at about 512mb ram (the dedicated servers doesn't use much ram) and a descentish cpu

not wanting to try and sabotage anything here, but won't the pipe for this server be the hardest thing to find?

bf1942 uses a fair bit of bandwidth, and you need a connection that isnt going to go to crap when the owner decides they want to d/l something.

might be an idea to find one before collecting a pile of parts.

the server will be easy to get together (as the generous ppl on this thread have already shown)

but, if it goes ahead, there'll be room for a insignificant vietcong server wont there :D
