Anyone care to know WHY I said I didn't intend to install beta DirectX versions.... :p
...but yeah, that does kinda suck. Then again, DirectX ( arguments on bundling and legal aspects aside ) is a SYSTEM COMPONENT of Windows. New DirectX versions are generally stuck that way. Kinda like new IE versions - hard to get rid of. Go on - I dare ya, see how fast you can remove IE from Windows XP :D.
...anyways, beta anything like that is asking for trouble. Just use system restore. Failing that, it's looking like a reinstall. :(
[edit]Not often I get spelling errors corrected. Sorry - you missed it, move along, move along, nothing to see.... :D :p

Actually - I did post the link for DX9 BETA - but obviously was smart enough not to dowload it myself........
Hey, coolmhz can you go to the windows update site and maybe download DX8.1 from there?
I've been having heaps of problems with 8.1 :(
It runs the DX7 D3D test okay and then does nothing for the DX8 test....... and I have the latest 8.1 patch

hmmm strange... direct 3d test works all fine for me.
Wow asan that bloody helpful...... that's like going up to a car crash and pointing at your car and say "well my one works okay buddy"
Anyway I fixed it..... disabled D3D in DirectX driver tool and then enabled it in dxdiag.... the cubes go way too fast but managed to run 2001SE with no problems so it's fixed :)

Good to see ya fixed it... and Asan.. *sigh*
PS: If you want to see the cubes spin at the intended speed in the DXDiag tests turn vsync back on for D3D
Vsync didn't work..... ah my systems become unstable now anyway......It does what it's supposed to except when I want to tweak...... I can't even use task manager...... oh well looks like an upgrade to XP when I can be bothered backing everything up :(

Just things video related that are unstable or everything ie general windows use, internet, email etc..?
And yeah after trying different driver versions and/or changing hardware etc, you get to a point where you you need start a fresh
I found out that it was directx.dll that I got from a |-|4>< site so it's gone and most things are fine...... though when I installed this new card and looked in the system properties I found all of previous cards listed as well (man I'm lazy  )...... I think from memory I've had this install of ME for just under two years  so a fresh start very soon would be prudent I think!
