C&C: Generals?

Yo, i have heard heaps about the latest Command & Conquer, its called Generals, and is set around the year 2020.
For anyone that doesnt know about this game, then there is 3 teams (not NOD & GDI anymore!)... there is the USA, China & GLA (Global Liberation Army). At the moment the game is still in Closed BETA stages, but damn..... it looks really really good!
Has anyone "Accquired" the BETA and played it?

I havnt had a beta or anything, but I got a few videos of ingame play and stuff, looks dam awesome. Im a real big Command and Conquerer fan, so im really looking forward to Generals coming out should be sweet. :D

I have played almost ever C&C game sofar. The only ones i havent played are C&C: Counterstrike & C&C: renegade.

Yeah, those city battles look primo.

BTW can you garrison snipers and things in them, would be quite cool giving a bit of a Close Combat ambush feel to it, but whilst having the primo gfx

update: i have been reading around, and it sounds like you can garrison any unit into any building (and its rumored that you can do an airdrop right into an enemy building and take it over).

C&C generals doesnt sound good at all. So far the reports say its the same old boring Westwood design which hasnt changed since C&C1. The only new thing is the engine which uses the llimiting hardware displacement mapping in DX9. Dont even bother.

it looks pretty damn good to me, but then again, everyone is entitled to an opinion.
Im to far into downloading the beta to backout now.

i was thinking it looks pretty similar to RA2 from the screenshots, but thats not such a bad thing

even if westwood is raping the c&c name for all they cash they can get, i'll buy it :D

the world really needs another TA sized breakthrough though :(

TRU DAT!! Then you'd really start to see some sneaky strategies come out of the woodwork!

For those that don't know, Alpha Centauri lets you build units by individually choosing the chassis ( walking, 4WD, aircraft etc - though those aren't direct examples ;) ), the weapon ( small gun, big gun, bigger gun ), the armour ( puny, kevlar, ub3r ), the power source it uses ( diesel, nuclear, whatever ) etc. Basically, it allows some very off-the-wall units to appear - like imagine the equivalent of a Civ I/II settler unit, but that can fly, and move 20 squares in a turn. *poof* instant cities behind enemy lines...

Its not that I cant, more of I shouldnt. We're very early on, and frankly the stats are against us finishing it. But, stay positive and all that. :)

Well, the graphics look quite pretty, especially the nuke on one of the teaser videos, but I really have my doubts about Westwood making anything amazingly revolutionary anymore.

I havnt really enjoyed a RTS game since Total Annihilation, and that was a long time ago. Still play it as well. :)

Command & Conquer has had its day in the sun IMO.

yeh TA is all i play really there just so many units and u can make mass wars not lil ***** c&c wars maybe if they brought out a TA like battlefeild thatll be fun but i dont no how it would work :)
