I have just had my 2 40gig seagates get corrupted beyond repair, and also a 18gig scuzzy has now become corrupted but not as bad.
I purchased the scuzzy to use while the other seagates were getting replaced.
I have managed to format the 18 gig scuzzy and start to install windows onto it however when it get around half way through the computer turns itself off for no reason.
I was wondering what could be causing this problem?
The PC is a 1800+, asus mobo, asus geforce3 Ti500, 2 40gig barracuda IVs, 18gig seagate scuzzy, audigy soundcard, 400w enermax PS.
Are you overclocking at all?

It's pronounced "scuzzy" but written SCSI
What is your voltage on the 12v rail?
You have dodgy power @ your house?
Like lights frequently dimming n whatnot?
Excess vibration?
Moisture from damaged seals?
Buggered SCSI controller?
EMI (long shot)
Static?
All i can think of right now.
yep, there is something wrong and it's not the the HDD's fault. Cause to have to so many HDD's stuff up is impossible, unless for example, when you bought them, you threw them around etc, or on the way home from the shop they bounced around in the car?

me thinks you should:
a) check your CPU cooling
b) check your northbridge cooling
c) try reseating your RAM
d) try replacing your RAM
e) try replacing your PSU
or it might even be your mobo...

How much ventilation is there around/through the hard drive bays?
7200+ rpm HDDs should have active cooling.

from the post title i was going to suggest that it might be a high fsb, but although data corruption is a symptom of a way over spec pci bus, resetting is usually not unless its something else is failing other than the hard drives. And even then the symptom is the pci device its self failing and no the whole pc...
As I.R asked, are you overclocking?
my pick is dodgy power, although the fact that its an enermax surprises me. try everything suggested cos anythings a possiblity ;)
btw whetu they are barravuda IV's. ^^^^^^^

I am not overclocking at all, the house power is fine, plenty of ventilation(lan li server case), nothing real obvious e.g water dripping onto the case, vibrations.

No I couldnt get the 2 40gigs to format and the computer just turns itself off, no BSOD, even turned itself on at one stage.
The strange thing is the scsi drive actually worked ok for a couple hours after I first installed it before that too got corrupted.
have you tried teh HDD's on another computer??

I doubt those HDD are stuffed, you goot try them in another computer as N said, and try new RAM, CPU and mobo.
