well............better............just been up on a 40+ server and done some serious fragging...although still sucking a bit really..used to win medals in v 1.1.......
after some.. hefty research i c an tell you thees some pissed off modders out there..but!!...soldat 9 has just about completed his realism mod for v1.2 [ tonight] ...
despite the fact that dice have made it just that much harder to mod the game..when all they needed to do was improve the netcode related side of things..
however the serious moddders have peservered and i already got blood back in the game...
they've been having problems with getting extracted games to run online but someones just done it so i will to by the end of the week
soldats new realism mod can be turned on and off at will....
once we get round the headache dice just gave us well have one game with realism as an option and i just picked up another coolish leevl mod tonight..
panadell and i will have to get our shiot together as prowlinger and kilah [ sources tell me] ..are about to release over 100 altered dds [ skins] and a mod or two as well...
its getting harder to be original ..but killah definately is an L33T skinner....
so its all looking good and the boys from L3 will have it upped somewhere so you can all download it before the next lan

P.S. Bazooka lethatality has been increased for you all. To me with all of the bazooka modifications I did, it feels like a new weapon.
well heres a sample of the headache dice has given the modders...why they never included some form of user txt is beyond us..well anyways theyve worked it out..
files!
first create a folder in the mods folder calles for instance "Merciless1942" inside that make an init.con with these lines added:
game.setCustomGameName Merciless1942
game.addModPath Mods/Merciless1942/
game.addModPath Mods/BF1942/
game.customGameFlushArchive 0
it should look like this (note these lines are only the top 4 lines that should be added, the rest of the init.con should look like the original bf1942 init.con)

God I just love computers sometimes. I changed just this line and so far I've been able to get the merciless mod ,heavy bombardment, as well as a few others I was using, to work perfectly (Almost, there are a few small glitches with some vehicle icons, such as on the added capacity carrier mods rocket firing planes, not being there more than likely an addition that needs to be added now for 1.2).
theres pages of that up there believe me.....basically if we create aditional init con lines then the "custom " game will pick up the mods
so i got blood back and the sounds and can go up to a server [ just scored a bronze for 40+ player map.. i"m baaaacckkkk!! ] or start a custom game using soldier nines realism mod for V1.2
all i gotta do now is get the skins happening
so its all good one game to rule them all...Lmao...
soldiers made a few extra changes to the mod which ive investigated pretty thouroughly and i can agree wiyth him 100%...
its cool gameplay once you get used to it..

TO ACTIVATE THIS MOD ONCE YOU BOOT UP YOUR GAME: FIRST CLICK MULTIPLAYER, THEN CLICK CUSTOM GAME, THEN CLICK ON S9RM2, THEN CLICK ACTIVATE
SERVER NOTES: Servers, in your server name simply take on this abbreviation: (S9RM2). Stands for: Soldier 9's Realism Mod version 2.
NOTE---Clients and servers must both have this mod, although it is NOT a big download.
GAME NOTES:
Note: Experiment to find out what works best. <-- I also can't list everything, my memory isnt that good.
Here's what you all can expect:
1. All statistics have been COMPLETELY redone.
2. Infantry weapons are incredibly lethal to other infantry.
3. Det. Packs are the most effective anti-heavy armor weapon.
4. Bazooka/Panzershreck 's are now most effective against Light Tanks
5. Flak Guns rate of fire is now correct. (wow)
6. Flak Guns can run out of ammo.
7. Anything that shoots a bullet can kill infantry in 1-2 shots.
8. Guns like smg's are only effective to about 200 meters.(Also: Thompson is most effective smg within 50 meters,
after that, the Mp40 is more effective, 9mm carries energy better)
9. No4 rifle now correctly holds 10 rounds.
10. Infantry have tons more ammo.
11. Grenades Decimate infantry within 15 meters.
12. Tiger tank is REEEEEAAAAALLY slow.
13. New music, and new menu picture.
14. Tiger tank can kill almost any tank in 1 good shot.
15. Artillery can now kill things fast. (1 shell)(I mean... These were BIG guns.)
16. Airplanes bomb loads corrected.
17. Bombs destroy all.
18. Torpedo Loads corrected.
19. Allies better learn to use planes... that or Det. Packs. (How else you gonna kill a Tiger???)
20. Oh yeah, you can use a bazooka or two to the rear armor. (thin)
21. Wolverine (M10) is fast, a tin can, and a powerful gun.
22. T34 is a good tank. (Until you see a Tiger)
23. OT-34/85 is the most effective all-around allied tank.(Wolverine can kill but if Axis see's it... I pity the fool)
24. Sherman's arent cream of the crop anymore. They are fast with not much armor.
25. Chi-ha? Well thank goodness it only has to face a Sherman.
26. Well at least sherman can beat a Chi-ha (Panzer 4 if your really good or really lucky)
27. Jeeps and Kubelwagons hold 4 passengers! (Base work on 4 passengers, done by Petreak)
28. Tank turrets rotate slower. (Yay)
29. B17 has a new bomb loadout: 20 - 100lb bombs.
30. Katyusha and B17 Rate of Fire is way up.
31. Dive bomber bombs have a larger damage raduis, so do Battleships.
32. There is an extra spot on the Sherman, the Panzer 4, and the T-34 w/mg.
This spot can serve as a place for a tank commander, or a place for the MG'er to hide.
33. Colt model 1911 now holds 7 rounds.
34. Artillery shells have higher velocity, and thus a longer range.
35. T-34 Cannon damage has been improved, its higher now.
36. Plane's Rate of fire is Sky High. (running out of ammo high)
37. Torpedo loads on Submarines has been re-done.
38. Stuka dive drag has been re-calculated.
39. Tank armor is more realistic.
40. Grenades do no damage to any tank, except for the M10 Wolverine, but even then it is only under very limited circumstances that it gets hurt at all.
41. Panzer 4 is just a wee bit more sucky.
42. Bazooka/Panzerschrek damage range increased, so is flight velocity. (Grin)
THINGS I'M PROUD OF:
1. The fact that this mod destroys the original "Quake feel" of BF1942.
2. The 1940's music which gives the game a 1940's feel. (Yay, music)
3. The background picture. (Yay, picture)
4. The DICE people for finally making this game MORE mod-able.
5. The fact that I don't have to shoot people 30 times to kill them with an smg...
6. My prized possesion, the Tiger.
7. Carpet bombing in the B17. :)
8. The fact that you can whip a Chi-Ha like a red-headed step child.
9. Watching rockets fly off of the Katyusha.
10. Myself for all of the hours of working & testing... that and how many times I crashed my computer.
11. Petreak, for the bulk of the 4 seat Jeep and Kubel work.
12. Someone who figured out the "FlushArchives 0" thingy... (in the init.con)
13. DICE for finally making the AI somewhat intelligent.
14. My comedic tone of description.
Strategies:
1. Infantry Vs. Tank: The only way to destroy a tank is with some form of demolition charge, or a bazooka/panzerschrek.
If you do happen to have only the demolition charges, I suggest that you be sneaky, A great way to ensure the death of a tank with a demolition charge is to place it conveniently on top of the tank, in a position where it will not fall off. If you succeed, just hope the tank driver didnt hear the CLUNK of the charge landing on his tank, then run to safety and detonate the charge. If the charge does not get placed ON the tank, the tank could likely move out of harmful range before you get a chance to detonate it. If you have a bazooka or panzerschrek, I suggest that you manouvre your weapon to the flank (meaning sides or rear) of the enemy vehicle. Many times, a shot to the front armor of any tank will be un-productive. With the slower rotation times, it is now possible to fire 2-3 rounds into a tanks rearside before it can rotate around to kill you.
2. Infantry vs. Air: Well, this is self explanatory, hit the deck!... then run to a flak gun and blow that sorry pilot outta the sky.
3. Tank vs. Infantry: Ensure that you keep situational awareness at all times, don't let a sorry groundpounder sneak up behind you! If infantry are closing on you, then back out, if they get too close, you will no longer be able to shoot them. (They will be below your up/down gun range) And always ensure that you save your tank shells for other tanks, unless you find using a shell unavoidable.
4. Light Tank vs. Heavy Tank: Move your tank as close as possible to the enemy, while maintaining a volley of fire at the enemy. When you close on him, always attempt to move for a rearside shot. In a city scenario, always maintain the whereabouts of an enemy heavy tank, and try to ambush him at a corner section.
5. Heavy Tank vs. Light Tank: Ensure that you never allow the enemy to get close to you, and always ensure that your rearside is not exposed to an enemy tank. It is vital that you maintain your distance to a light tank, because if you allow him to close, it is possible to nullify your advantage of better gunnage, and better armor. His speed will kill you. And in cities, always be cautious, and ensure that you check around every corner.
6. Heavy Tank vs. Heavy Tank: May the man with the best aim win!
7. Plane vs. Plane: Go to filght school if you wanna learn, I can't type that much.
8. Torpedo Plane vs. Boat: Fly low, avoid flak, and drop your torpedo as low as possible to the water, with as little downward inertia as possible.
9. Artillery: PLEASE PLEASE ensure that you keep your distance on the battlefield!!! Call upon scouts for target aquisition, your sole advantage is your range and damage potential at that range. If you do hopelessly find yourself in a city conflict, keep your piece well hidden and hit an enemy when he comes around a corner.
10. Scouts: Continue to supply targets to your artillery, your sniper rifle is only there to deal with infantry at a distance, if you're going to advance you're going to need explosive rain to take out that armor!

file is here...unzip then put the entire folder.... after you get rid of the the double layer ....S9RM2....into the ...\Battlefield 1942\Mods....folder...
course ...im gonna be making more level mods and the sounds can be added to extracted folder placed in the main game dir...
ill do up a game then the team will host it for download..[wont cost much on local traffic] as itll be crucial that all peeps have the same files in their games..as each mod is added wel have to edit the initcon ....

Yeah, I was wondering about the slower-turning on the tank turrets. They were WAY too fast before.
With ALL that massive list of improvements, the game should come pretty d@mn close to realism ( except for the way one guy can run an entire battleship or aircraft carrier, and the way vehicles just respawn, and the way there's often more vehicles and ships than there are men, and, and.... :D ).

Oh yeeeaaahh....bombs, guns, rockets...oh...
I like the way this mod is heading, theres something about a slow, ponderous, heavily armoured monster tiger that just makes my spine tingle with joy.
Now, if you can put towable field artillery into the game, I will lick your boots...oh and the artillery shells need to really scream as they fly over your head.

you mean like when you jump out of a plane at high altitude and dont press the parachute key?
hmmm......not bad..but...a tiger turret could fully rotate in 60 secs...wittman however knew this was too long and used it more like a wespe....turning the entire tank to keep the front armour facing the fireline.....
DaCrapper and co were playing around with towable artillary...right now hes doing a mega tank mod...heres a firefly
oh and prowlingers merciless addon will be josted somewhere soon and well have that as well
Yeah we plan a new version for the expansion to add in new features like new loader screens for all the new maps.. and to make sure nothing ELSE breaks from Dice...

latest news the link to sodiers realism has gone down...is there any way we can get these important files hosted ..locally as prowlingers merciless mod with file setup for texture changingb has been just released....i can send the files over the windows messenger...also includd in this important relese are killahs skins...lol..least my snow as good as his...but he is an L33t skinner...im grabbing the files now.
