View Full Version : microATX with 4 pci?
Are there any microATX form boards out there to support up to XP2000+, SDDR, and at least 4 pci slots? also prefer bios multiplier/voltage settings etc

i think there will be a nForce2 micro board, and so most of the stuff is inbuilt (and good too) you wont need that many pci cards..
the problem I have now is my first slot is wiped out by my agp cooler, 2nd slot has my sounds (can't live without that), third slot I have to swop adsl modem and lan card as needed. (and capture card sits in the desk drawer) Would like a board with soft multiplier/v settings - if I can get a good one with on-board LAN then problem solved. Has to be micro 'cause it's a custom case.

Well you could get a modem/router that ran off the lan card.
I could.....but that may cost more than a new board! and wouldn't get me multipliers via bios...

SoundStorm on the nForce2 is as good as an Audigy apparently...
and it'll have at least one NIC inbuilt, which performs better than most high end network cards do.
Thats two down.
And its a good overclocker apparently too....

i dunno about good overclocker, call the boards annand has only went up to 190ish, most kt333 board (ok some) have been doing that for ages... doesn't seem that good to me
I screwed up - would rather not replace ram if I don't have to - I actually need sd.....
can't find any microatx, with sdram, lan on-board, 3 pci slots, agp....in fact NO boards discuss bios multplier adjustment??

In my eternal hunt for a good AMD mATX board, this one seems to be the best: Gigabyte GA-7VKML
about $160ish, KM266 chipset, 3x PCI 1xAGP FSB in 1mhz steps + voltage adjust in 5% 7.5% and 10% increments... almost no mATX boards have this... ****ty on board Video + on board AUdio/Lan/USB2.0/ATA133. dunno about multiplier adjust though. But its DDR Ram, which is heaps better, so fork over the dosh for some :D
Tis the **** as far as small mobos go.

most gigabyte boards only have it via dipswitches ...... no biggee really once you got it all setup.... of coarse this board may not but if you find a good picture you should be able to tell.
Grrr!!

Don't forget that some of those boards are not retail revisions. I suspect that the EPoX has some way to go yet.

Im looking for a cheap AXP mobo too, this A7N266-VM only has 3 PCI slots not 4 but its Asus and same price as the above one. Its nVidia nForce 220D chipset if thast any help.

I have a few Qs about it I cant see from the specs: Will either board being 266FSB take Tbreds ? I am getting an AXP2000 but wanto be able to upgrade to a Tbred later
Is "RealtekŪ ALC650 audio module " any better than AC97?
Have a look @ this thread for the TBred.A support.

The GPU is roughly on par with GF2 MX's performance level, if you use dual bank config.
The ALC650 is the DA/AD converter. It has a respectable N/S ratio. However, don't expect too much from an on-board solution.

The question about microATX cases:
I have been into microATX for ages, there are quite a few microATX cases around but only one company who makes good quality ones and that company is In-Win.
Visit them at http://www.in-win.com
I have an IW-V500, it is really good. If you dont install the FDD you can have 3 HDD's. It's also got 2 5.25 bays and a P4 power supply. If you dont like the measy 180 watts you can fit a standard ATX PSU (e.g. mine has a 300watt enermax).
It also has an extra rear cooling fan 80mm and a front one can be added.
It is made of thick steel at 0.8mm which is thicker than most mid tower atx cases.
Hell, I LOVE this case.
Only problem is the price, one will set you back around $122 inc GST .
The only case available in NZ currently is the IW-V500 and is imported by Ingram Micro.
I know TL Systems in auckland used to import them as well but I dont think they do anymore.
Ingram might bring in more styles of the microATX case if more people hassle them about it, HINT HINT.
i gave up on looking for a microatx case to suit my mobo.
That doesn't look too bad.
I ended up getting a minitower, nice n roomy with my widdle wee thing in there ;)
can't say I ever looked for one...made my own.....
