Hey :)
I'm sure there were a few of you that were planning to catch the bus from Wellington up to Auckland for the LAN. If this isn't going ahead anymore, how are you guys planning to get to Auckland?
Airfares are reasonably cheap (well $140 return), but I'm worried about getting from the airport to the Stadium by either bus (ick) or taxi ($$$ ickier $$$).
Are there any plans in place yet?
Thoughts on a few people flying together and hence cutting costs from the airport to the LAN and back?
Spare spot in a car for me?
I need to work out whether it's worth booking something soonish so I can get there, or giving up on the LAN, 3 days of what should be a lot of fun, and $60.
Cheers :)
Max.

i'm going by car with a mate... if push comes to shove we could prolly squeeze you in... (you'd be sharing the back seat with equipment, however if yours truely does the packing you should be comfortable)

Ooo, that'd be great if I could :)
I certainly don't mind being squished in between some equipment, and I probably (hopefully) will be able to borrow a monitor from someone up there so it'll just be me and my case (and a bag).

Instead of cathing plane You could catch the train to auckers and taxi to Albany wouldnt be as expensive from train station in city as it would be from airport... thats like 10-15km compared to liek 50 :|
just $0.02

Ah, ok then. If the car falls through (love to do the car trip with ya though...)... I'll keep that in mind :)
I don't really know Auckland at all (was there for 2hrs... couldn't really stomach more than that ;) )... so I wasn't sure about distances between the airport/train station and the stadium etc.
Cheers :)
Grrr!!

Just bear in mind ... there is MORE than one stadium. So if you are hoping in a taxi ... don't ask them to take you to 'the stadium'.

I wasn't planning to just say 'the stadium' if I hopped in a taxi :P
I navigated most of the way around Europe when I backpacked with my mother and 6yr old brother when I was 8. I kinda have any idea how to get to where I need to go :P

An make sure to say "North Harbour Stadium" as opposed to "North Shore Events Centre" (which a few people keep mentioning for some reason).

*sigh* There are maps in the official thread (http://forums.overclockers.co.nz/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1863) guys... stay on SH1, go over the harbour bridge and keep driving... past birkenhead, past takapuna and glenfield, take the albany turnoff and follow the maps i drew up for this purpose months ago... hell I could find the place without a map.. its marked enough...

And make sure that you take a megaphone so that you can yell at the Auckland drivers.
Filling your car with w00troleum, with a w00tane of uber will get you there faster.
And it helps if your car is red. And uses red coolant.
Ugh.
It's sad how I won't have a car in time for EQX, it would be a honour to show [H]arls and whetu + others how Auckland'ers drive :D
...Next time round then :)
