Anyone bought stuff from www.starlyte.co.nz ...?

They have pretty competitive prices in the AlthonXP department.. roughly $30 cheaper then everywhere else.

Just wondering if any one has had good/bad experiences with these guys?

I'm keeping an eye on them to see if they are or become the newegg.com of NZ. ;)
(i.e. low prices & killer service)

I have purchased from Starlyte before. No problems - so I cannot comment on what might be expected if something turned out to be faulty.

It appears to be just one guy (Andrew) who works literally out of his bedroom and does not hold any stock. Hence low overheads.

Seems to be an honest type of guy, reliable and quite helpful. I think he has been in business for about 6 months.

3 weeks? please dont quote me on that though :D

5 utter max i'd say - will be worried if its any longer than 3 weeks.
Placing an ad in trade and exchange to see if someone has a place in west akl - bit hard to find something decent when you have two little wimps... err dogs that need to be considered.

And WHAT a member!

Or is that 'What a MEMBER!'?

Anyway, Griffin, if you're going to Westie land, how many customers will you get? That lot are white trash, and they prefer to buy Ford parts, not Intel!

(I compare Ford/Intel because I am a Holden fanboy through and through, so therefore the Holden PC counterpart is AMD ;) )

There are heaps of Aucklanders who buy there parts down southern ways: JB, Dragon, PC Pieces etc.. an Auckland retailer who sells the good stuff at TEH cheap prices.. = buy our stuff from Griffin..

Easier/Faster to get new parts ... mmmmmm

I might be wrong but it wont be any faster because they use the same distributers therefore it is coming from them to you......... but far better if something goes wrong as it makes it a **** load easier to return for service.......

Well, I would hope it would be faster as I could come and pick up stuff and pay cash on the sopt instead of the usual email then wait then deposit then wait... I assume you would accept pickups Griffin? :D

I'd like to be able to hold stock, but it's just not possible - certainly in the first year. Small things maybe at the later half of year like fans etc.
Best thing to do is ring/email a few days before - then on your way to the dairy or something you could just pick it up.

I'll make a info post when everything is set - but expect the same service as John gives... if you have any complants then maybe we could arrange for silver to dress up... errr, i'll stop now.. he's already crying enough as it is - wouldn't want that eating disorder to flare up again :)

Hey all,

That Starlyte place is really good, Ive been dealing with Andrew for nearly a year now, I was one of his first major sales when he first started up, and I only deal with him now - I dont get any stuff from anywhere else.
If something does get faulty for some reason, he is the supplier you dream about. Prompt action and replacement etc.
So far Ive brought 2 whole Pc's, 1 new CPU, 1 new Motherboard, and have had, like mentioned in other posts, really really quick delivery. You cant beat this service.

And yes, he does work from home, saves renting a shop and passing on the costs to us as consumers, so that is really great.

Help support this dude peoples, just a little company - keep him alive so we can reak the benifits from his nice low prices.
