who cares which one of those CPU's are better etc ?? jst get a XP1700 its only $1.12 more expensive than the XP1600.
I'm not paying more for something that's not better! But anyway, the question got answered for me - turns out that although everyone advertises the 1600, hardly anyone has it in stock, and nobody has it at a compeditive price. 1700 on the way....

You would have to say, on average that a 1700+ will overclock better than a 1600+.
You could also probaby sell a 1700+ on tardme for $10 more than the 1600+, cause it's full of tards, so it has better resale value.
Now whats better? Do you actually think a faster chip is made to run slower than a 1600+, certainly not on purpose. For a few dollars more I would even go to the 1800+ (but it's $30 so maybe not).

I'd go for the 1800+ too..... but my 1600 goes to 2000+(160Mhz FSB+) and higher so I don't worry that much ;) Got mine to 2100+ and it was a beauty. My PSU has since denied me the pleasure anymore.

Going for the 1800XP+ sounds crazy to me, exactly why would you pay $30 more for a tiny 66mhz more, and .5 higher multiplier with the 1800XP+ compared to the 1700XP+, when you're going to overclock and probably unlock it anyway so huh??
It's probably too late but I would of advised you not get a leadman aswell, very noisey and there is that higher then normal failure rate world wide to worry about..

i'd have to agree with Ragnor. considering the pretty amazing yields AMD have been achieving with their palominos, there would be zero difference between a XP1700+ and a XP1800+.

Had no choice.... the hyena was dying and I needed another case fan as well.
Well so far I have no noise from my leadman (hell I have a V7+ and 2 case fans.... I'm only gonna notice noise if I had wc. Everything is sweet, I'll only have it for like 30 weeks anyway.
Well I have no more hyena crap... well apart from my case ;) oh well.
:D HYENA BASHING SOON DUDES :D
XP1700 t/bred A chip is in place. Running at 1595GHz (11*145 which is the highest my m/board will do) it's still 5 degrees cooler than the o/clocked duron 950. Won't bother getting it unlocked until I get a board that supports multiplier changes.

Only because the 1700 were carried to later week productions. The week 16/9 XP1700 remains unrivalled by every other palomino CPU except the 2100, in terms of overclocking :)
I'd screw both Palomino Processors off, and grab an 1800 Tbred :D These are the bomb, many do 1.92ghz 2 1.725v aircooled, and some reach as high as 2017. :D

Actually there's some good info coming out, not quite dead yet
now I'm just waiting for somebody to leap forward and offer me an A7N266-VM board with 512ddr for 50 bucks!! ....waiting....waiting.....

*Wonders if smac's 1700+ can beat my 1600+ @ 2200+ (1.8Ghz)*
:D
...locked, sitting on a A7V133-vm with a maximum fsb of 145 it won't!! *lol* it's quite happy at XP1900 with a 7V cpu fan though
