What are these like, I'm toying with the idea of buying one.
I'm not a gamer (apart from MS Links 2003), mainly: dvd's, usual stuff like internet, MS Excel programming (lots). What the quality of text with these
Any comments?

Powercolor = poor quality. Also, you don't need ( and won't use ) a 128MB card.
Buy a 64MB card, and get a better brand - made by ATi's are ( of course ;) ) very good.
BTW, running lots of Excel, I presume you're up at 1600x1200 or higher resolution? And running how many monitors?
( I run two monitors, both at 1600x1200. It's great for larger spreadsheets!! )

Run 1600 x 1200, one monitor would love 2 monitors one for the worksheets the other for the vba edtior!
Thanks for the advice may go for something like a Leadtek GF4 mx440.

ATI branded cards have the best 2D quality on the market and have done for quite awhile.
A good Radeon 9000 Pro 64mb is far supeior than any GF4 MX.

If you're not into gaming and you just want good/the best image quality, then you really want to look at Matrox graphics cards...

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. No flashy high-speed gaming ( though they'd 'do' gaming ), just THE best 2D quality in the industry.
Period.

Up to$350. Don't want to get too carried away as I am going to upgrade my speakers and soundcard soon.

Matrox have always been majorly over priced for anything but the workstation market.
