Here's (http://www.vr-zone.com/Home/news171/Barton.htm) a good pic. It's supposed to be 1833MHz with 333FSB and rated at 2800+, but this person overclocked to 2.3GHz. These look like thay may be better than the early Hammers.

That's one strange looking cpu.
Half the substrate around the core isn't there.
*shrugs*
I heard they were 400fsb from a few places
*shrugs again*
Let's hope they get them in mass production soon :D

i thought the barton was the very last incarnation of the duron?
before they discontinued them
im probably wrong

and when the hell are they going to make coloured pcb cpu's!! if im getting a blue pcb'd mobo for chrissie, i want a matching pcb cpu!

poison, i think u should have included that last statement in the [uneducatedfool] section. :p

whats the point of a coloured cpu, it's going to be under the hsf the whole time anyway. ;)

while on topic of CPU colours,

I just got an Athlon XP1800+ today, not for me, but anyway, clocks up to XP2100+ PR, but why is it green? like I thought they would be brown, I read a bit about it, and it says that they are just newer ones, but, are they better core's?

I think the correct term you are looking for is "package" not pcb... only slotties have pcbs

My xp1600+ agoia is green as well. I was expecting brown like my duron. Its nice though I like green :) What stepping is that xp1800+ maybe its got something to do with stepping.

it's an Agoia, week 28, 2002,

it's 1800DMT3C,
got it from 1533 to 1745MHz with FSB ocing only and 1.85V.

Oh no...I hope I havnt just screwed myself today...

We got in an XP1800+, boxed retail for a customer who didnt want it in the end (I hate that). It looks exactly like that. I dont know what the tbred's look like, so i just assumed it was one of those - Im tempted to get it just for that fact. Its a tiny wee die on the chip just like that one.

Heres the code, almost identical to the one in the pic:

AXDA1800DLT3C
AIUGA 0241VAW
9451107260022

(Yeah, i made a note to write the code down to check it out when i got home ;) )
Like I said, I've never seen a tbred so if it is one of those someone please let me know. You guys think I should grab it for 'testing' purposes? ;)

How much, were did you get it? The code does sound like a T-Bred-B. Dibs on it if it's cheap enough.

Yes definately grab it, can you get more?

I went to DTC, ETC, and QMB today, they are all five min drive from each other,
at QMB the guy was selling me the CPU at 149+GST, I asked him to take the price down, and he told me that he gets them for 147$ so he only earns 2$ dollars, I said OK, I'll think about it, went up the road and got it from ETC,
the guys is like, you wan't OEM or boxed, boxed is 165, OEM 145 +GST, I said I'll take the OEM, so he opens up the boxed one and just gives me the CPU for 145$+GST,
then I went off to DTC, got 256MB Samsung DDR333, one bank stick for 145$+GST, while in QMB he was asking 175, but he had lifetime warranty, while DTC had 1 year,

so at the end I got this green Athlon:
AX1800DMT3C
AGOIA 0228RPDW

now the thing is, other Athlons have their info on the bottom of the cpu, while the one I got had the info engraved on the top of the CPU die, like my duron 1GHz.

Anyway, it pays to shop around, cause there is soo much competition today.

BTW, what does AX stand for in front of 1800, all of the other CPU's I've seen online have more letters in front,

Also, if you are asking why didn't I get the stuff online from other stores, is cause I don't have time to wait for the courier, and this was cheaper.

those green ones have been out for aaaaaaages
there was a pic of one on anantech months ago
its nothing to do with the core at all
its just the colour of the packaging.

no barton has always been the 512k l2 athlon

the appaloosa was going to be the last incarnation of the duron, but i would say they will not make it at all, and that the tbred is going to be the new duron, hell it already is at the lower speed grades(tho palaminos are still there)

Cheers Hans. :)
From what i've read, the 'B' Tbreds are the one's to have, am I correct?
Maybe I should grab it for the hell of it, I need to upgrade the duron sitting in the bro's machine anyway.

A T-Bred-A would do fine aroud 2GHz. If you want to go 2.5GHz then get a T-Bred-B. I don't see 1800+ with T-Bred-B yet. They are very very very hard to come by.

On the www.overclockers.com database they have XP2400+ (obviously TBred-B's) with the same code AXDA's reaching speeds over 2.2GHz with 1.7 volts.

How can you be so sure Hans?

In fact more on this, this (http://www.overclockers.com/tips00110/) seems to suggest it is a Revision B core.

I will do some more googling.

After doing some more googling, I can't come up with any difinitive answers, but I have got more to suggest it is not a TBread-A.

The XP2200+ TBread-A cores that I have found, the second line reads AIRGA and only reach speeds below 2000MHz, while the AIUGA reach up to 2300MHz which are probably revision B cores. Harls core is the faster AIUGA.

Once again the info obtained from the www.overclockers.com database.

I did read somewhere that the lowest speed grade for T-Breds would be XP1800+, and as this is brand new it is quite possibly, maybe probably a new revision B core.

So the default voltage code "L=1.5v" suggests it's a rev A.
The 2nd line code "AIUGA"suggests it's a rev "B".

I'm not convinced either way, time may tell. I would love to see someone overclock it cause that will tell us.

I suggest a trip to www.amd.com to download the pdf's for the althon range.. all the product code info can be found in those.

Deviant

Well it's definately a rev A chip. I asked Ed from www.overclockers.com and he sent me an email. It seems a few of these are poping up, and he has put some more info on his website here. (http://www.overclockers.com/tips00201/) It's worth noting the the people who already have one (found in the forum link on the page) are getting slightly over 2 GHz on air with them.

2 GHz is isn't bad for a cheap chip. Still worth an upgrade for most.

i came across this site - http://www.digit-life.com/news.html
and saw it too, and was like "yess yess! i got news to post!! :p"

then i come to the processors thread and what do i see  lol thought "ohh shat :("
