Yep, the Clawhammer's new name is AMD Athlon 64.

About as exciting as Geforce FX.

I thought we were going to get something exciting ... why does the server market get all the good names (Opteron, Xeon) and we get all the ****y ones (eg Celeron).

the only reason xeon sounds cool is cause it's expensive, and celeron is cheap,

if servers were called celeron, then it would be cool to have a celeron,

Damn was hoping they'd call it Megatron so you could tell it was the sister to the Opteron.
Besides they'd sell alot more :D :D

yeah but they're just codenames. the codenames are always cooler than the "real" names ;)

haha gay robots had a cpu child........good one I.R......:o

my fav "codename" is palomino. just has a tangy ring dont it?

and everything ends with on:
duron, athlon, celeron (aka gheylaron), xeon, opteron, pention......wait pention? thats not right, but it should be called that rather that pentium (aka poopium). pention, just has a funny ring to it.

but its accually good that the hammer family is going to be surfacing soooonish....., give or take a decade.:D

one more- the palomino is not a develepor name- its the cores actual marketed name

not... AMD released it as the AthlonXP and that's it. the only place the name shows up on the AMD website is on their roadmaps - and that's coz there's no way around it ;)

some retailers list CPUs as "palomino" but it's really just purely for the enthusiasts convenience.
