Judging from the Tekram (http://www.tekram.com/Hot_Products.asp?Product=P6B40-A4X) website, you can overclock the FSB up to 133MHz.
Problems:
1. With early BX chipset motherboards, they did not have a 1/4PCI bus divider. If you do it is theoretically possible to clock the FSB at 133MHz, whilst leaving the PCI bus at default 33MHz.
2. Anything over 100MHz FSB with a 1/3 PCI divider is going to overclock the PCI bus. Ideally you dont want to do this, or at least stay as far away from 40Mhz as possible. Some Hard Drives and PCI cards will be instable (resulting is crashes, random lockups, and potential data corruption).
3. The Pentium2 350-500's had an off chip cache (512kB) -because memory onchip like modern CPUs was considered too expensive at the time. Problem is that it was at the limit of memory speed for the time, so the cache itself will restrict you from overclocking the CPU as far as you might like.
4. Your PC100 (probably?) memory may not like overclocking much above 100MHz.
Having said that, reaching near 400Mhz should be possible. This will require a 115MHz FSB. However as you only have 112 and 133 as options, 112 may be all you can achieve (392MHz). But is worth a shot. Your PCI will be 37Mhz. You wouldnt want to go much higher there. Heat shouldnt be too much of a problem as the same die size made it to 500Mhz I think off memory.
As an alternative, you should be able to slot a Celeron (CuMine) in and run at 1000Mhz for dirt cheap (if anyone still stocks them). This would be a highly recommended upgrade. You could then overclock to 112MHz FSB and have a Celeron at 1120MHz. Not to be snivelled at for an upgrade!
Hope that helps. Naturally if you do have a 1/4 PCI divider in BIOS you are in luck and can run a "Celermine" at 1333Mhz with the 133MHz FSB. On a BX system this would rock (cf. your current setup anyway:))
Good luck,

i had an old PII 350 on a BX mobo. it worked brilliantly at 434mhz (124mhz fsb) for a good year and its still going strong although i clocked it back to default since its now a work computer. the board had options for 100, 103, 112, 124, and 133. when i did that though i was a bit of a n00b and didn't realise that the pci bus was running at 41mhz  lol. if i had known that i think i would have settled for 112x3.5=392.
42mhz is not a huge overclock so if you really aren't worried about your HDD's and other pci cards (admit it, it IS a bit old now days), bump it up another step ;). having said that though mav seems to think your board only has 100/112/133 so looks like you're stuck at 392.

Im very new to computers and was wondering how to OC my pIII 450 properly. I set the SW1 dip switches correctly to 112fsb(504mhz) and everything ran fine in windows but I got a "primary IDE error" in system info. Im replacing the 8mb quantum fireball HD anyway.
Is that all I needed to do to OC? Do I do change the SW2 dip switches or anything else?
I dont know how to tell if my mobo has a 1/4 pci divider as you describe.

Im trying to replace my pIII 450 cpu with a slocket + 1gig Cu-mine celeron actually but I cant get the old cpu and cooler out.
I have unplugged the cpu fan from the mobo but beyond that I cant see anything restraining it, would anyone be able to help?

as i said in the other thread, there will be some tabs that you have to shift out of lock mode before you can remove the cpu from the retention mechanism... if i find some spare time i'll see if i can find you a picture online describing what i mean... until then you could go search on intel's site about it...

Sorry Im a tit. I had to wedge a bit of wire under each tab while I pulled it out but its fine now, sorry to waste your time.
However, I cant separate the cartridge from the old cpu so the slocket is just kinda wobbling around in the slot (yes its bedded as firmly as poss)with abigass heavy intel cooler hangin off it.
I cant get the cartridge off the old p3 450 cpu without cutting off the plastic joins which will render the cartridge pretty useless anyway.
Just wondering if anyone's done this procedure b4 cos the slocket isnt very firm in there.
The cpu fan powered up but nothing at all came up on the screen either when I powered it up with the slocket and I had everything set at stock 100fsb(same settings as for the p3 450) so I dunno what happened there.
Back onto my pIII 450 now :)

erm.. can you take this back to your own thread? Yes I have done the proceedure before, in fact look here
www.g33kflat.orcon.net.nz/whetu/images/p2.jpg
that is the slot1 cpu that's going into the new g33kflat server all nekkid and haxed :D
anyways, i'd rather not continue this discussion here...
