Lol thats epic. There seems to be just as many fast created counteracts to Vbulletin and PhpBB as there are solution patches.

I ended up manually modding the registration page on a forum I have access to, and adding 2 phrases that are dumb.. as in 'type the following words in the box' and a captcha which combined seem to work.

At least you got some different friends :P

Methinks the registration page has been assimilated. F5 on main page and its activly being hammered. Members: 221,008 going up every min or so.

I guess we should be thankfull post delay restrictions are in place.

There aren't post delay restrictions. They just can't do anything until their accounts are manually activated.

This never happens, which is why OCNZ is dying. There are currently about 40,000 accounts awaiting manual activation. Occasionally I look through the list for emails ending with '.nz', then manually activate those. However, I delete all the rest. So nobody with a gmail/etc address can join these forums. And I don't have the time to go through the 1000's of spam accounts and actually check if they're human.

We have no access to the forums themselves, so can't patch the version of VBulletin, or change the reg form etc. It sucks, but that's life.

That sounds familiar :) I got server hack access, but not to the userbase lol
