View Full Version : TV-Out Refresh Rate
Ive got a Gf2Mx400 with tv-out - MSI brand,
Is there anyway to make the refresh rate of the TV-Out higher than 60hz?
Or would i need to get a new card?

PAL televisions have a (very) fixed refresh rate of 50Hz... NTSC televisions have a (very) fixed refresh rate of 60Hz. even if you could change it your TV would throw a spaz and the picture would go out of sync.
i think... :)
What about those lubberly HDTV's with teh 100Hz refresh rate... or sumfin like that
Thx mird
Still gotta luv watching movies on the tv :P
Just tried to edit my other post but didnt let me - hmm??

IR - those refresh rates is just the TV doubling the incoming signal - they just run on a 50/60hz signal (from composite, SVHS, component, scart, whatever).
However the Panasonic Tau Giga 29" has a vga input though - that could be something a little more interesting. I have never bothered to hook one up to a computer yet - has anyone else? Quite a few of those HDTVs have vga inputs on I think.

nice telly dude :)
umm, it depends... some (most) NTSC playback systems just drop 5 frames (10 fields) every second. others actually flick into like an NTSC emulation mode. it depends what signal format you're outputting from your vid card.
since it's a native PAL set i'd say just set the output to PAL and the refresh will be 50Hz. if Hz is everything, try setting the output on your vid card to NTSC... you'll soon notice whether it's dropping frames or otherwise.
Thx mird - ill give it a try tomorrow
Cant be buggared atm :)
