OK,
Where to next? I am gonna throw out the Iwill XP333 and want to go back to Epox. But which board? The 8KHA, or the 8K3A? From reviews I have seen there's not much benefit to going KT333 chipset as they tend to be a fraction slower than the KT266 ones? Or do I wait till KT400's arrive? Oh, additional info: it'll be running an Athlon1200 (overclocked to whatever I can get, at present 1350ish) and PC2700 ram

the KT400 aint too far away, and as there would be only a very small (and practically unnoticeable) difference moving from the XP333 to any KT266x/KT333x, i'd say wait. but if you've got money to burn, go for the 8K3A... more fun, in particular some nice high vcore settings :)

only a small difference you say? From any articles i have seen the XP333 gets caned, coz of the aLi Majic chipset. And one MAJOR difference I won't miss coming back to epox is ease of use. The Iwill is frankly a pain in the bum

well caned in mobo terms is only few fps, or a couple minutes divx crunch time

Just wondering how do you define "caned"?

The XP-333 certainly is not a speeding star but it's not slow either. I would be surprised to see a difference of 5% or larger, if you properly tweak the BIOS on both boards, Iwill and Epox.

Please do not use Q3's gaming performance under 640*480*16*Fastest setting. The difference maybe big, e.g. 20FPS but ARE you going to play games under that mode? You can forget about Sandra Memory Bench, it's only a theoretical value and nothing more.

I doubt that you can feel the difference from a XP333 and an Epox MB.

(Okay, I am biased coz I've got a XP333 board doing 180MHz, 2-2-2).

I've also got the XP333, and I was thinking about throwing the Iwill out the window and getting the Epox 8K3A+ aswell, but I decided to wait for the KT400 to emerge instead.

But if the XP333 is making you insane and you can't wait for the KT400, then definitely go for the 8K3A i've seen very high FSB's achieved in some reviews, ie: 207MHz+.

CLASSIC *LOL*
And yeah: Some people DO get thrown by that sort of Graphical representation (LOVE the graphs that go from 44.1 to 44.9 in order to show some sort of result). I got taught how to graph properly whe I studied, so I tend to not be suckered in. Sure we are only talking 5% or so against other chipsets, but then again, a lot of us here risk frying memory and cpu's for less?
