I just got a nice lil amd k6-2 550mhz and a old IBM mobo, i am wanting to keep it as quiet as possable so i am thinking of geeting a low wattage PSU for it but i was wnating to know what i would need it a 150watt psu ok for this cpu plus 2 hdds and a system fan?? Dose anyone have any 150watt psu to sell and can i run this cpu with out a fan on the sotck Heatsink??

I think these chips run at around 55 degrees with stock cooling, so probably not a wise idea to try no fan...why not rig an 80mm fan over it, running at 5v? those suckers have a fairly good amount of airflow, yet put out NO sound!

Do the same to the power supply, but not before testing, but that I mean run the PSU for a day, turn it off, take it to bits as fast as possible, and touch the heatsinks inside (I guess, its the way I'd do it) and if the temp of the heatsink seems low enough, hack the pla...er the fan to run at 7v or 5v even...and repeat till you get the silent rigging.

I was considering sticking a server into my hot water cupboard with a couple of fans running low, but the ambient temp in there is a bit too high, especially for the Duron deathheater...
