I know this isn't overclocking, but this seems to be the most active sub-forum, and I need to pick some minds. Please :)
A while* ago I saw a really nifty Solid State Drive on a PCI card with many** RAM slots. Can't remember the website I saw it on, or the manufacturer. Google knows nothing about a PCI based SSD solution. Does anyone know who makes such a thing?***

**8 - 12 slots
***I'm sure I didn't dream it. Really.
Ta muchly.

Heres a company that makes them, hellza expensive though. Platypus Technology (http://www.platypus.net/nf-default2.asp)
EDIT: I lie, those ones use SDRAM and need to be powered to maintain their data. There is a company called BitMicro that is developing solid state pci ones (they already do ide) they expect the initial price to be between $1000-$2000 us per gigabyte

yeah they're pretty cool. platypus must have the patents on them or something coz they're the only products of their kind i've seen/heard of.

They would rock so much for DV editing, oh the memory bandwidth :D

Hm. Good find. It was something very very similar...but I think it wasn't a full sized PCI card (it was powered though, can't help it. Just plug it into a UPS or something) and it sure wasn't USD$8k. more like $400 USD. Keep Googling..?

Whoops, never mind....found it. The same one. Still can't find the review though - but loot at it! Lookit! 4GB at least twice as fast as Fibre Channel SCSI-160. *drool* I wonder if it's worth it seeing how much the RAM will cost....
