I need some ideas on what to do with a piece of clear perspex, I have cut exactly to the dimensions for the side panel on my case. I was hoping to use it to place a 'Sunon 80mm Ultra Quiet Fan' on the inside to pull air onto the m/b itself, putting a fan cover on the front side. What else could I do to it? I was also thinking of putting in a Cathode or Glowire. Which would be better?
I would also like to spray paint it silver or black.
Pic of my case:

I was thinking of placing a Sunon, on top of the AGP/PCI slots and one above my V7+

See my post on boring case mods first!!!!
Don't do it, dont become one of the boring masses!
Do a window by all means & cold cathode _&_ glow wire but do it with style. I would suggest a custom cut window not just a square!! Try some kinda design.
And please please please dont do it without a plan and sketches!!!
There was a good post here once about cutting holes in your case it suggested you use photoshop (or something) take a photo of your case with it's side on, then the same photo with the side off then layer the two and cut out the bits you dont want! - Hop that makes sense!
Can any one remember the link?

THERE IS NO SPOO-.... err, LINK!!
The old forum is dead.
But I'm sure he can work it out. I've always just done scale diagrams or VRML 3D models of what I want to do....
*shrugs*
:D

Well the thing is that I don't wish to cut up my side panel cause I'm still paying off this pc. Unless I can find another side panel that can fit I don't really want to destroy it.

Well I'm gonna try this mod anyway, I know it will be **** but I will try my best to make it as flash as possible. Yeah I'll try that Photoshop thing, I have seen that done before.
Tidy up that PSU as well ;)

Ya mean all the power cable and stuff? Well at least the dudes who made my pc actually tied them up hehe :D
Try some thing like...... this!!! ;) I've tidied up most of those wires now as well :)

Well I'm going to replicate my side panel @ school in the metalwork room, my metalwork teacher is all for modding. I can do/use whatever I want there to do it, so this should be fun :D heh my other mate is trying to make a case out of 15mm thick custom board (but dumb if you ask me but there 'aint many wooden cases out there hehe)

Is gonna be really heavy in custom wood!!!

it depends how it's finished... customwood is great to work with (read: easy), and you can do all sorts of things to create weird and wonderful results. resin, bog, paint, vinyl, etc etc ... all can be used to create something you'd never be able to achieve with metal. with enough primer you can also use automotive paints for a very glossy finish. nearly all of the coolest car-audio boot displays are customwood underneath.
15mm is a bit overkill for a computer case tho (HEAVY!), i'd say 8mm would be enough, but yeah.

About the old forum. Has anyone tried doing a google seach for it. Doesn't google archive forums? Just a thought.
BTW I have that exact same case lOl:D Looking to replace it with a full tower when I have all the neccessary h2o bits.

I have the same case... don't you hate the green? I took the green bit off and spraypainted the inside black, it looks really good.

ahh mine already had a black kinda seethrough cover on it, no green for me :D at least they got that right

lucky you, the green was really horrible, but you know what really pissed me off about the Hyena? Less than 2 weeks after my 1 year warranty expired, the PSU stuck its head in its ass and fried itself! oh well...

oh poo, I never really trusted this psu anyway ............ ENERMAX IT IS!!!

how about a nice 120mm fan in/on the panel or two
Overkill is nice :)
You could get some of that spectre paint they use on cars (4 colors depending on light) and paint it, just go to the local panelbeaters who do all the boyracers cars and get a tin of the left overs.

You mean the stuff that looks different colors depending on the angles of your eye and the light incident to the surface?
Yeah - that stuff rocks. If he's still around, Cheetor ( an L3 attendee ;) ) had that done to his case. He just dropped it off there and let them do it - VERY proffesional job, looks like teh shiz!
Only I don't like your chances of getting free tins of 'left overs' ;).
Isn't that process like the most expensive paint job you can get

when the paint was first released a few years ago (by Resene i think) they had a chemical patent which lasts for 3 years... during which time they could charge whatever the hell they liked for it (and they did). but since the patent has expired every paint producer under the sun has developed their own version of it so prices are a lot lower now. infact it's not that much more than regular automotive paint now.
ooooooooooooo........ must resist........ yes teh ELVIS mod will have to do for the moment :D

I'm pretty sure Du Pont created it. Although Resene may be the NZ manufacturer under licence or something. I remember when they first came out with the stuff in the states coz it was on "their" sponsored NASCAR team car.

The paint you're talking about - Harlequin I think its called.
A guy I know got a quote to do his RX7 (Batman). He was told that the body work has to be as straight as a grizzly's d**k or it looks crap!
He was quoted nearly $15,000!! My worry would be spending a huge ammount of money on a paint job only to put it my car & kink or scratch it.
I also hear that it doesn't reflect well on flat surfaces you need the curve to give the full effect.
However, all that aside if you do get it done I'm really keen to see it!

That paint always seems to be called something different:
harlequin
camellion
1337 changie colour stuff :D
etc

Spectre is the name that Porshe used.
And yes i'm sure it was first made by Du Pont.
Remember NZ is on the bottom of the planet we always get things last.

Ok it's time to bring this thread back to life.
I am going to cut up my Hyena side panel.. WHOOHOO!!!....... screw the credit company :D
Now all I need is the kind of window I want and where to get it. I see styles has some good ones, either way it's gonna have a Nuke applique on it and a red cathode inside.
The 'WINDOW KIT-LARGE RECTANGLE' (29cm x 32cm) from styles seems alright to me.... however I have that perspex sitting around and I could do a free window mod via school metalwork room. How would those cathodes look like through the perspex you guys reckon? (perspex is fully cut to dimentions of side panel and is in pefect condition)
I 'aint gonna put any fans on the window either. I'm going to cut a blow hole in the top as well and open up that exhaust grill on the back (holes are too small for my liking, I'll just make it totally open).
Case *WILL* be spray painted black very soon...... as beige = ghey :D. Rounded cables etc are in the works as well.

What kind of paint would i need to use to paint my case black? ... I'll do it ASAP providing its a cheap paint you need (read: below $40-50) :D
