That's right, good old thermionic valves for the 5.1 sound. Valve have traditionally given better quality sound. See here:

anyway, I've been reading about amplifiers and the tube ones are really good, I wonder if they'll start making sound cards with tube amps.

Valves are still used in new equipment today, in Hi Fi equipment, and high power transmitters. Nothing like a valve for high power.

Deviant is on the money i own a stereo amp that runs valves cost me $2000 for it.. gives the best sound i have ever heard.

I play gee-tar through a loverly Valve amp..... beautifull.... I wouldn't go back to a transistor amp now.... oh yeah I can see it now.....

First dood: Yuk Sovtek valves are too metally man!!

Second dood: Yeah but they OC really well.

Valves do get very hot though.... water cooling anyone?
