well.. drill actually...
tomorrow morning i'm going to undertake keyhole surgery under anaesthetic to correct my hernia. Someone chickened out so I was put ahead by 6 months. The shock of the news has me basically sh*ting my pants.
subsequently i will be away for two days, while i recover... mainly from the large doses of morphine i'm about to receive ;). i'm sure silver and RB will keep things under control while my iron fist lays limp on the operating table
*waves iron fist menacingly* :D
wish me luck
Good luck man ;)
You've got nothin to be afraid of..... these people are trained professionals...... not like this bunch of warranty voiding |-|4><..... no offense guys :p

I can imagine him now, squealing about where the hell he left his pint, and how he cant feel his body, and that the mandoctor 'shore is purdy'
Or else he will be shaking a pale fist and swearing about where his beer and body have gone, and how the morphine have made him attracted to the mandoctor.
Either way, one less hernia means baby jesus can get back to his rap, yo.
Whetu, dont worry, at least HALF of the time they dont leave a watch behind. Plus, if they do, you get a free watch! Its just retrieving it thats going to be the bizitch.
Take care old man!

No don't. You don't want them. I was once around at Ra's (Whetu's) place and saw a whole basket load of them in his bathroom. I had to get outa there but not before first getting sick from the smell. You don't wanna know.
What is it with people down south wanting to do questionable things with others underwear? And since when is someone from the north island a celeberty. :P

You mean you don't get that up north too? It's prety common practice in these parts. It pays to dry your undergarments in your house if you don't want to see them bobbing past your window and off down the street attached to someone elses head
And as for whetu being a celebrity (think I spelt it right that time) How could u not see him as one? Have u not noticed the way he single handedly sweeps in to take charge and expertly lay down the law while still maintaining his famous charming manner? Or his stunningly handsome features? That dude has got it going on! And I tell u, I'm not the only one who goes weak at the nee's when he's around laying down the law ;)
That lad has quite a fan club :D

Hey Whetu good to hear your doing well. Where did you get it done Wellington or the Hutt? Same thing happened to me with my Hernia Repair, got called up and next week I was in surgery. Did you Get Dr Andrew Kenedy Smith he did a sweet job on mine unfortunately my Hernia was to big for key hole. Scar is almost completely faded.

Palmy. Still got the scar - do you have nerve damage? ie the area around the scar feels sorta numb?

17-11-2006, 09:22 AM
Not that I can remember, it felt quite tender for about a week after surgery. Then i was able to walk normally and do stuff but took as you say 4-6 weeks to go back to normal use. What kind of Hernia did you have mine was Left Ingunal Hernia. The cut they had to make was about 18cm.
whetu
17-11-2006, 01:04 PM
right ingunal, and my scar is about the same. I was crippled for a few years before the surgery, and now I'm cycling 30k's a day (weather permitting) and playing touch, so it's all good - just that the area around the scar does feel numb to the touch (ie damaged nerves sending wrong signals to the brain)

no :( I should have got a trainer from torpedo7.co.nz while they were cheap. It's not the rain, it's the wind (randomly gusting wellington wind = death)
Tojja

(randomly gusting wellington wind = death)
You have to be prepared in Wellington to cycle at every possible opportunity - my mate did 330km last week while I did a lowly 180km (reduced through being sick), just by waiting for gaps and then getting out there for as long as possible - though as you mainly commute this isn't always practical, I concede.
Highly unpleasant when you pedal for an hour straight into a headwind, but by christ, cycling in Wellington prepares you for anything.
