Compaq boot password??

I've got a friend with a Compaq Pressario 712AU laptop. The bios boot up password has been changed.

Any ideas as to how to use the laptop again? Are there some passwords that will always work or anything like that.

Have you tried just pressing 'Enter' - maybe there is actually no password at all.

You also try clearing the bios data, but I'm not sure if it is as easy with a laptop as with a desktop.

First thing to do is the usual sorta thing.. open it up look for a cmos jumper, take the battery out if its possible... leave it like that for a couple of days........
