Nice. I was considering one for a Smoothwall until I saw the price of the dual ethernet version of it... Few Questions:
1) What's the fan noise like? I'd heard that those small little things VIA provides are noisy little bastards; think it could run passive or with a slow spinning 80/120mm fan somewhere in the case providing more of a "general" airflow opposed to the very focused one currently?
2) What's general speed like? A few miscellaneous reviews have been pretty harsh in that regard, calling them "not worthy of FTP servers"... Windows feels ok I take it? Didn't consider one of the older Shuttles which would have been pretty small comparatively but still have some form of upgrade path/expandability?
3) In the end, how much did the entire setup run you?
It is good to see someone managed to use the case successfully without boobing it up (http://www.silentpcreview.com/article701-page9.html) (whether or not it was there fault is irrelevant, not sure what they expected...)

I used one of these, and found depending on the workload (ie for a firewill - not a lot) you could unplug all fans and it would be fine
the 1ghz version i had was speed wise just like a 1ghz Celly
and you can get them locally (stocked) www.computerlink.co.nz
i had one in my rack at work witha 2gb CF card in it running as a UPS conroller. i only got rid of it cause i needed dual eth and dual serial

I think if you put a system fan in there it would drop the temps by a quite a bit.
I find it responds to windows quite well. i havent tryed any games out on it yet though. the noise is small irritating.... i cant really hear it with some quiet music dorwning it out, but if you mod the fan to a 80mm or so and slow it down, and add a system fan it would cool it enough i would think.
I installed a fan controller and that made it inaudiable but with slightly higher temps.
This also has 2 Sata ports that sold me on this model :D

Friend of mine built a "carputer" out of one of those. Pretty damn cool for what it was.

Pity about the choice of case; you're going to need another etherweb port...

Yes i was thinking of a finding a gig ethernet card and putting a wireless usb module in there... i have to learn how i would go about doing it though...
Originally i wasnt going to have a case, but it came with the 60wat psu so win.
and the total setup, case, psu, moboc cpu memory was about $670ish, i had just got the HDD back from RMA so i didnt factor that in.

I've always wanted one of these, but found it hard to justify the price for the coolness.
Having said that, I just bought a cisco - and given how hawt that is I may be inclined to splurge more money.
Later.
After I buy that RC tank.
