Ok looking for a 5.1 sepaker set to hook up to the Philips AE?
I'd be using it pure for gaming... i rarely listen to mp3 or watch DVDs on the pc. I don't like much volume when i'm playing games (or UTing hehehe)... cannot concentrate when tis too loud - so i don't really need a THX certified SUB (z-560??). What's everyones recommendation, suggestions, experience?

Couple of contenders - most links from Ascent (http://www.ascent.co.nz/mn-product-template.asp?cname=Speakers)
Philips A3-600
Logitech Z-640 - listed today @ ascent
creative, Jazz??

That the price range i'm looking at - can't justify the $500+ mark for what i require (or should i?)

Grrr!!

Avoid the flat panel style speakers. They are tinny. I'd go for a abit home theater system. Nodes and NFC stock it.

Damn the logitech 5.1's are out now... argh

/looks in wallet... finds it empty

From the reviews I've seen the flat panels don't have good mid range, good mid range is fairly important for gaming...

Philips also do a 5.1's that aren't flat panel though.. hmm

yeah tis a lot cheaper too - minimal wattage though... and lacks the kewl factor hehe.

Quality wise anyone got anything bad to say bout logitech? I'm leaning towards the 640 if i got by what the 540 reviews say.
