How do you have Windows configured. Single click to open or double click to open?

Just been trying out single click and it is a tad easier on the arms.;)

Used to use single click for about a year, but then switched back to double click.....was so used to single clicking that I'd sit at other peoples computers for ages wondering why it wasn't doing anything.....only to realise I'd only single clicked as I was used to

used single click for a while when the "feature" first appeared but switch back to double after a few months. it's cool, but not my thing.

Double. Single would be good, but not given what I use my PC for. My copious amounts of fiddling around with web pages and images and the like mean I need to re-name files ( and extensions ) a LOT.

So 2 clicks allows me to rename, rather than having to right click and select rename. ( or move the selection with arrows and then hit F2, lol :p ).

It's the second fastest double click available though. Anyone else find that the fastest is too fast ( basically instantaneous ), while the second fastest is waaaay slower? ( too much gap? )

I just gave the fastest double click a go, it is just to quick. It's unreasonable to use two hands when double clicking. One to hold the mouse, and the other to click the button.

Double clicker here.
I did try single clicking for a while, but I always ended up dbl clicking and opening multiple windows. Dunno, just never got used to it.

I use Double Click. Single click, although a noble idea, pissed me off for the short period of time I had it enabled. It seemed inconsistient, as in some places you would still have to doubleclick, while in others you could singleclick. In most applications you are also expected to doubleclick for some actions.

I used to accidently end up lanuching programs heaps when using windows explorer, especially when I was just trying to select things (I seem to select one thing first and then continue from there using the keyboard instead of using the mouse to draw a "box" around the items).

Then as someone already mentioned, it was hard using other computers, which were configured most likely for doubleclick.

I had that option on win2k, but what win 2k does is that you can have single click activated but it leaves lines underneath the icons which looks crappy, or you can have them appear when you run your cursor over them. I turned it off single click as I can double click faster than single click, so whats the point?

Well by the look of things, Double Click would be the winner.

single... more consistant with browser - ie. one cliking mode throughout
