Does anyone know of an appropriate thermally conductive adhesive to use to re-attach a heatsink to a Pentium 200 Classic (edit) socket 7?

I bought one to upgrade a mail server I've got from trademe but its without a heat sink attached. I managed to source one from an old 120Mhz CPU but not sure what to use to glue it on with?

I was going to use

Arctic Alumina Epoxy Adhesive

But the website says its not supposed to be used to attach heatsinks to CPU's :D

whats a slot 7? :p

yes the Arctic Alumina Epoxy Adhesive will be fine on a p200 (i assume you mean socket 7). the warning is more for modern cpus. i know some OEMS back in the p200 days used to use a dot of superglue .

Ahh good good, shes getting pretty hot in there though hehe, I tend to fill it with parts as I get them and at the moment all ISA and PCI slots are used and the Voodoo 2 SLI heats it up a fair tad.

Those front and back 60mm fan mounts sure come in handy *snicker* :p

Yeah, I think you mean Socket7 dood........ ;)

Anyway, as Swifty stated Arctic Alumina Epoxy will be fine for a P200 - but you can also add some thermal compound to the mix if you want to be able to remove the HSF @ some point. ie: if it dies.
Because Alumina Epoxy on it's own is permanent.
