could you please help me with the pros and cons of duals?
thanks you 1337 ppls :D
Well you need an OS that supports dual CPU's, win2K or XP pro or a Linux distro (Don't quot me on the linux one though coz I don't play with Linux :().
Most games don't support two CPU's.... the only one that springs to mind that does is Quake 3.
Basically if you are doin serious stuff and your apps can use two CPU's awesome :D but for gaming it's a waste of money :(
What do you want to use it for??

Don't bother with dually's then....... the mobo is gonna cost heaps and then two MP's aren't cheap either.......you'd be better off gettng one fast chip and a good graphics card ;)

Sounds like your money would be better spent elsewhere.
It's VERY rare to have anyone around here that actually CAN'T use their money better elsewhere.
BTW, XP Home supports dual CPU's now ;).
D@MN - what I.R. said....

You'll want to wait a month or two.
Abit's KD7-RAID is probably the type of board you're looking for:
http://www.abit-usa.com/pt_main_backkd7r.html?pPRODUCT_TYPE=MotherBoard&pMODEL_NAME=KD7-RAID
...but I've yet to see it in NZ yet. ASUS will likely also bring out a similar high-end board.
Given it's on their website it shouldn't be too far away. But at the moment the best you'll get at the high-end is AGP 4X/KT333.

Dual Cpu's = Price is too big of a con unless you do 3D stuff, photochop stuff or run a large database server type stuff
Almost no games are optimized for dual cpus and not many everyday appz..
............
Everybody seems to be so desperate for 8x they are panting..
/looks to see if secret squirrel is around..
Do you seriously think you will own an 8x NV30 or ATI9700 in 3, 6 or 12 months time... they are new and are going to be mighty expensive...
By the time you have upgraded to an 8x card, newer mobo's with newer feature etc etc will be out.. chances are if you buy a mobo now you won't still have the same mobo when you acquire your first 8x card...
Hey if you're rich.. by all means go hard nuts 8x KT400 with serial ATA with 2x SATA drives in RAID 0 ... etc etc etc :D
I'll expect pics and a good overclock
