"Screwed"

Building a new machine for parents work & stealing CDRom,Floppy & Hard drive out of the old on problem is the CDrom has one screw that will not move.
And its in a horrible place.

Example:

Damn screw is small but also the top of which keeps breaking or whatever you call it when the screw doesn't turn and the screwdriver keeps going.

Any suggestions?

Use a knife to see if u can move it out of the hole a bit.

The thread on the top of the screw - almost completley

get a hacksaw and cut accross it, so that a large flathead screwdriver can turn it :)

try not to get any metal filings inyour hardware though... giving it a blowout with compressed air afterwards would be a good idea.

If all else fails, drill it out, prolly a good chance it will root your drive but i have done it in the past...

agree with GooGlo... drill out the head and then use pliers to unscrew what's left.

Have you guys never heard of screw grab?

It's made of crushed black diamonds, and comes in paste form, and is made perfect for it. The stuff works a charm, you just plomp a drop onto the screw head, or tip of the swrew driver and lets the driver grip the buggered screw.

Actually just had a thought, diamonds are ment to be really good at transfering heat because of their density, right, well I got some screw grab here might change my stock standard thermal paste and try it on my CPU.
