Hi just wondering what fans ppl would suggest for my radiator.

BlackIce II

It uses 2x 120mm fans.

Thanks :)

what's the price/noise factor importance to you?

I would look into those tip driven ones if they are for sale?

The tip driven ones are 70mm only at this point, and they are being recalled as a lot of them were faulty.
I would recommend papst 120mm fans.
They are hard to get a hold of, but very very high quality and quiet fans, compared to most other fans anyway ;)
Considering I can't get any damn panaflos from John anymore, I'm not quite sure what to recommend to ya, as my experience with the 120mm sunons was less than pleasant, they just felt cheap :(

I hear good things about Sanyo Denki fans, but no experience with them myself...

Well I just upgraded my dual 120mm sunon's to 2 x 120mm panaflo's 2100rpm 85cfm each and only 35db, they even spin up at around 3-4 volts and you can't even hear them at that.

only $8 each form magpiemanor on trademe
magpiemanor@paradise.net.nz

second hand but who gives a toss, I'm happy with mine :D

Papst are really good fans, my 120mm ive got is just as noisy at 12v as my sunon is at 7v, but i cant put my papst in my icute as it is too thick to fit infront of the drive bays

Panaflo
Papst
Sunon
Sanyo Denki

They all make several different models in the 120x120 x 25 size.

Check out the pdf's for each, there is not all that much difference when you compare apples to apples ie: same rpm speed models.

Most 120mm fans are around the 35 to 40mm range.

Yes noise (well lack of it) is extremely important. Price not as much so.

I'd say the panaflo is the best performer, it owns mostly due to the fact it's thicker (38mm) ..

Papst is a better option the the Sunon

Ys, it looks that way.

Anyone know a good place to get some of these? I wouldnt mind going 25mm thick, they seem to perform well!

I need 3 120mms and 3 80mms by the looks of it

magpiemanor sells all sorts of fans even papst ones, doesn't hurt to see what he has around.

I know he had a couple of papst's last week but I went for the Panaflo goodness instead :)

The Panaflow L1A seems to be the way to go. Either that or the Papst FGL.

May have to see if I can't find some reviews.

Well Nigel replied last night...seems a lot of Overclockers have asked him, he said!
hahahaha

Anyway, he has Papst 120mm and 80mm fans, all 32mm thick, no 25mm thick ones.

These still have to be quieter and efficient still, as opposed to the noisy 38mm thick units? He is going to send me some model numbers, and prices also hopefully.

In my experience the 38mm fans are not louder than 25mm ones, infact I reckon 38mm fans are quieter as they don't need to spin as fast to get the same airflow....

With all fans though you will need to run them at no more than 7 volts anyway. all 120mm's are too loud at 12volts. :)

i'm just restricted by the 33mm gap at the front of my case.....and i cant realy move the HDD rack back, since its riveted to the base of the case....
