View Full Version : probs with 8k3a?

Just installed it today and everything was fine.
I noticed though, in MBM5, that the temperature fluctuates very often and also I can't seem to get a peak full load temperature. Usually with the old board under full load for at least an hour, I would max out at something, but with the new board it keeps fluctuating around 35-38 degrees. Anyone else had this problem?

Another thing is that I notice a fluctuation in the core voltage. Is this alright? The high/low section in MBM5 records a low of 1.73 and a max of 1.76 while on my previous mobo this stayed the same. Is there anything I should be worried about?

Any help would be good.

edit: using latest bios too

PSU could be acting dodgy

Do the voltages appear to fluctuate the same way in BIOS? ie: go into the 'PC HEALTH STATUS MENU' (or equivalent) and check out what your voltages are in there. If they stay stable then it's MBM5 that's @ fault. You can do the same regarding CPU temp.

I had an Epox 8KHA+ a while back and the voltages always fluctuated on that too.

And the VCore of my Abit KR7A RAID fluctuates slighty, but my unlocked XP1700+ runs sweet @ XP1900+ so no problems there.........

If you want to really get an accurate measure of temperature don't rely on the onboard sensor, use it only as a guide. Use a temp probe or thermistor.

You could try MBProbe instead of MBM5, and see if that gives you better readings.

BUT:
Are you getting lockups or random reboots? If not, then:

Don't be so paranoid! :p ;)

Lol, I'm super paranoid.
The system is fully stable, just slowly burning in the ram.

edit: The voltage is stable in bios so I guess you were right about MBM5.
