It got removed dude, because of people thought it meant everything. But can still be got at through the member list (http://forums.overclockers.co.nz/memberlist.php)

I'm on dial up (winmodem) here as well. E3 connection in CHCH maybe the lines aren't the best in Timaru. :)

I always thought of post counts on overseas message boards as a marketing tool coz if displaying post counts increase messages that can only help in attracting advertising $$$. It’s also the reason I stopped going to amdmb.com forums when the amdmb owners started spamming me via email to increase my posts.
So if it cuts down on the dribble I think it’s a good decision. And I’m not saying that coz everyone always has more posts then me :D I’ve been a member of the forums here for a while now even though I haven’t contributed a great deal I only contribute when I’ve got something worth while to say.
I know this message board has a lot of heavy posters and the majority of them are very experienced and helpful. I know this by reading what they contribute and not by a number under their nicks.

I voted no to postcount displayed, I have seen far too many drama queens spamming solely in order to increase postcount.

yep... we sure need more one word/line posts like that.
And then theres the sort that KJ mentioned, that will comment on your postcount or call someone else a n00b based solely on postcount or reg date etc etc etc...

i have to disagree binky.
as a community such as this grows larger it is undoubtably going to get more outside exposure thus bringing more idiots in. it has to happen and already is happening to some extent. by having strict mods we are keeping the worst of them out and i think that removing post count was a good idea.
we're a hell of a lot better than gameplanet and lets keep it that way.

It's common sense. That's why there is ICQ and IRC. Where as with these forums things are being permently recorded. Don't know if anyone's done a search lately on google. But there are huge archives dating all the way back. This forum, like the last is not doubt being archived there as well.
