What would be the better RAM to get. Corsair pc2100 or Kingmax/Samsung pc2400 / PC2700. I will be overclocking but probably not to really extreme levels.

Apparently the Samsung PC2700 (TCB3) can OC past 200Mhz with CAS 2.5.

Speaking from experience however, I can tell you that my Kingmax PC2700 stick can OC to 176MHz @ CAS2 and 186MHz @ CAS 2.5.

Both the Kingmax and Samsung are quite cheap.

If you're not doing anything insane, then I'd go the KingMax.

That way, you keep your warranty on your RAM, AND you don't risk any long-term damage to it ( cos it'll be rated for more than the mild OC you seem to have in mind ).

Corsair really only comes into it's own when you have more money to spend, and can afford their high-end DIMMs.

:p :D

Corsair makes great ram but I wouldn't go for the 2100 if you're going to be overclocking your cpu via the fsb....

The Corsair 2400, 2700 or 3200 mmmm now your talking...

I have two 256mb sticks of 2400, bought back in dec last year when ram was at its all time low price... cas-2 all the way and all mem setting to max performance.

However Corsair ram costs more, just like a Enermax PSu costs more then a non name brand..

There seems to be a glut of Corsair 2100 ram on the market at the moment, many NZ retailers suddenly starting advertising Corsair ram at good prices.. I suspect Corsair is dumping its 2100 stock as they've probably moved on to producing 3200 rated ram

If you can get Corsair 2400, 2700 (3200 is way expensive) at competitive prices to the Kingmax 2700... take the corsair.. you probably won't be able too..

In that case I hear Kingmax 2700 and Samsung 2700 are good.

U will be surprised with that Corsiar VS-2100 ram. It's almost as good as the kingmax PC-2700, almost.

Wait for our updated review.

hmm, might have to get some then. It's such a nice price, unless they're selling it cheap cos it's a bad batch.

LOL - good PC2100 almost as good as OK PC2700. I wonder if it can take bargain-basement PC3000? :p

Well - there you have it :D. Get the KingMax. In your situation, one of the ( IMHO ) important features is the lifetime warranty KingMax/Corsair RAM comes with.

What do you mean? pcgear have 512MB sticks for under $600incl which if you compare to the price of a 256MB stick of XMS2700 you see is way cheaper, even on a purely meg per $ basis.

But when you consider that you could get 512MB of teh PC2100 Corsair for around the same price as 256MB of KingMax PC3300.
