I think it's safe to assume that the Tbred 1800 will be cheaper than the 2000.

Hey, Mr Crow. I was just wondering if you have overclocked your video card? Cause i have virtually the exact same setup as you and i can't even break the 6000 mark in 3dmark2001se!!!!!

Did you run the benchmark at standard configuration?

It was overclocked very heavily.
265 core, 550 mem or so.
Please, if you wish to talk to people about their systems, PM them :)

Pentium 166Mhz non-MMX
32MB 72pin 60ns EDO RAM
1/2MB SiS Video

Well seeing as the below is the only Skt A mobo that Eagle does, I'd say there it is:

http://www.espco.com/PRODUCTS/motherboard/HTML/VIA/E-KT266A-A-200-SAx4-A-A.htm

As for temps, make sure your usin the right settings etc. or buy a hardcano or something. But still, I'd get away from that mobo as fast as I can, I thought *I* had it bad by havin the Eagle GF2MX200!!!.

hehe over the period the forums were down, i finally got a new comp, up from my old PII 300 to...

The AllStar GP Version R, powered by:
Engine: ThermalTake intercooled "V6" 1.8L Athlon, XP spec
Turbocharger: Gainward Ti 4200 128mb GSR
RAM: 512mb Samsung PC-2700 High performance Drag Memory
Motherboard: Chaintech 7VJL A(-Spec)pogee
Harddrive: Western Digital 800JB 8mb cache GTR (real fast, leaves some SCSI in the dust!!)
Monitor: Viewsonic E70f 17" sports alloys
Case: ICute 627SL-S8 not Type1, or Type2, but Type-R (with a 120mm air flow controller)
CD-ROM: BTC 52x "Quiet Drive"
Mouse: "MoMo/Microshaft" Intellimouse Explorer 3
Keyboard: "Recaro" BTC multimedia

its a lot faster than my old PII300, where it use to pull times in the 20's, this economy box pulls about 14s. Pity that the length of a mile doubles about every 12-18months :P

Slow, and buggy drivers
The FSAA is nice though :D
But it's slow and incompatible.
Can't play MOHAA, RTCW, Morrowind, amongst gawd knows how many others.
I have 12+ different drivers for it, and those are just the 3rd party win2k versions...
GF2MX/GTS speed, in the middle.
Suffice to say It's being replaced as soon as possible.
And NO it is not going up for sale...
Now, back to the system specs, we derail other topics enough, leave this one alone :p

My upgrades wereplanned upgrades:
Next week: Icute case plus 300W Enermax

I got a way better case and psu, and the correct video card. However I blew out and went DDR, so am still using a 15g harddrive - I don't need a huge amount of space being on 98se, but I do want a faster drive very soon. I also picked up an Aopen 40*12*48 CDRW.

60g Seagate Barracuda, or other 7200 HD

Ummm it was kinda a joke :(

If it couldnt been seen as such well I dont really know as I am not one to rant and rave on such things.
I can understand that pirating is a BAD thing but is there no such a thing as a joke at microsofts expence.
You may have notice that I actually work in the industry and dont really have time to support pirated software that comes in all the time but i do have time to make a little fun of it.

I'm going 2 post my system specs when I finish getting all the bits. I notice reading the posts that AMD CPU's outweigh INTEL by about 10:1 Is there a reason for this, apart from lower cost of AMD CPU's ?????

There's nothing stopping you upgrading that P.Bell, even if it still has warranty left. I work on those comps often and upgrade etc. The only thing to remember is that your upgraded parts wont be covered by warranty (obviously) and if they stuff anything else up it wont be covered.

Be careful and you will be fine. Those Packard Bells are pretty upgradeable for a name-brand PC, it is usually a Microstar or Gigabyte board in it, Infineon ram, Pioneer DVD etc.

How do i bypass the "warranty Void If Removed" sticker on the back pannel?
I think its a microstar Mobo.

Elle, i'm confused.

firstly, your server has a GF4MX440 and your main rig has a GF2 MX? secondly, your server has no NIC... and what the... an XP 2000+ for a server!?

Check the version n# on the bottom of the KX7333, if it's a v1.0 take it back, Abit will replace it with a v1.1 for free..

THe v1.0 sucked bigtime

Well see i don't pay for the servers parts as it is a workstation for my parents work during the weekdays,
It only mine in the weekends, but i think i could do with more power either way as CPUs & Ram are so cheap atm.
NIC- well i don't normally need one but i borrow one off KJ for L3.
I'll get a Cnet one when ever i can be bothered.

A Gf2MX is my main rig is cause i couldn't afford a GTS as they cost over $600 when i bought it.
Waiting for an NV30 to replace it, then when Doom 3 is Gold i will update the CPU, Mobo & Ram.
I spend alot of time working out my upgrade path to be long lasting.

The Abit was a Version 1.1 and was RMA'd twice untill Robert @ Styles offered to swap it for something else as the supplyers wouldn't send a new replacement - kept returning it saying it was fine.
But the fact of the matter is that the board was ****ed and was giving the same issues with different hardware.

***Edit***
Surprised no one said anything about the servers nice new monitor :p :p

Big mistake....
CmdrChris had some big RAID issues with his Audigy 2, and most people find that system problems usualy relate back to a Creative sound card.
Try Phillips or Hercules if you want a decent sound card.

At any one time I have enough gear for 1 1/2 rigs. Currently I have 2 running, but I'm selling the guts from one of them, so it will be back to one soon - which is as follows:

Intel P4 2.4B @ 3.0GHz SL6EF (max 3.15GHz)
Epox 4PEA+
2 * 512 Mb Corsair XMS3500C2 2-3-3-6
Thermaltake Volcano 7+
Leadtek Ti4600 @ 335/775
SB Audigy
2 * WD JB800 (80GB 8Mb buffer versions) RAID 0
Antec Truepower 480W PSU
Creative CD-RW
Lite-on DVD-ROM
Logitech Optical Wireless mouse
plain jane Dell kb
clone-Antec server case
3 * Sunon 80mm case fans

Additional gear sitting idle:

Leadtek GF3 Ti200
SB Live 5.1
no-name case w/PSU
Epox 4DBA2+ (trying to sell it)
Intel P4 1.8A (trying to sell it)

Upgrades:

Dual channel DDR, baby! Maybe a Granite Bay mobo, but more likely I'll wait for a Springdale chipset board.

CPU - possibly one of the new HT-enabled 2.4's (D1 stepping) 800 MHz FSB. More likely I'll wait until Prescott.

The other alternative is to flog all my Intel gear and go for Hammer when it arrives. I'll just wait and see how that develops.

HDD - a third drive, probably a new SATA - waiting for WD's 10k RPM SATA drive.

That's it folks ... :)
