I was bored so i decided to throw together an old system and muck around with linux on it but instead of using it as a workstation i decided i'd move onto the server side of things.
So heres the specs:
P100mhz
16 mb 72pin edo
32x cd-rom
~1.1 gig hdd
Sound Maker live 5.1
Distro is Mandrake 8.2 for now, once its fully working as a print server and a web server i'll be changnign distros to gentoo and make it a permanant router/firewall ,print server and a tempory web host.
Wish me luck :)

i scored a P133 with 72mb of ram (edo) and a 500mb hdd from the uni and oddly enough i'm doing the same thing :D.
just gotta figure out how... :p
atm it has debian on it, might change that also. the main reason i used debian is cos it has a local ftp install mirror and i lack a cdrom for it so i just installed it at 800k/second over the net :D
the only problem so far has been the onboard s3 trio 64 graphics so i chucked in a virge and she's sweet :)

You could try the RH web site as it has lots of links that deal with server stuff under RH. I found an online course for RH servers recently but I don't think I bookmarked the url :( Being linux the course was free even:)

Ummm ... good luck :D I am running a server on RH but seems it has a few problems right now. I have tri-boot, or is that try-boot system:eek: My isp objects though cos my account with them prohibits servers etc, etc ... still :D It was easier I found than a server under win2k.
I'm gonna do a linux "crunch" box soon with my old parts also but haven't decided on a processor or distro yet....... I was thinking about a 1.1 durrie coz the're like $106 bucks but how hot do they get coz I want something really toasty ;) and a really basic distro coz the only things I remember about linux are man, grep and the good old | "pipe"
