An eccentric philosophy professor gave a one question final exam after an
entire semester dealing with a broad array of topics.

The class was already seated and ready to go when the professor picked up
his chair, plopped it on his desk and wrote on the board: "Using everything
we have learned this semester, prove that this chair does not exist."

Fingers flew, erasers erased, notebooks were filled in furious fashion.
Some students wrote over 30 pages in one hour attempting to refute the
existence of the chair.

One member of the class however, was up and finished in less than a minute.

Weeks later when the grades were posted, the rest of the group wondered how
he could have gotten an A when he had barely written anything at all.

They found his answer consisted of two words: "What chair?"

But usually when your a smartarse like that, it doesnt get you anywhere!
 :)

Depends on the size of the paper and the writing. :)

Then there was the class that told to write a 3000 word essay on the topic "brave".

One person got an A for handing in 6 pages of A4 paper. The first 5 blank and the last one saying "This is brave."

you see, some people can do that,
if I did anything like that, I would get a huge 0 and an even bigger red cross and be called lazy. It frustrates me how some people can get away with this.

Don't be too disheartened, I'm sure the story is BS. I mean a one question exam, and a rediculous question at that, the question should have been what is the answer to the universe? Isn't it 42!

Any way the peron did not PROVE like the question asked, the person just denied existance of the chair and therefore got the question totally wrong in my book.

A few of my mates do philosophy and one question exams aren't as rare as you'd think.
Mind you, you have to be "special" or eat a lot of philosophy cookies to do well.
