Quite a few people on the forum have Epox mobos - it's just that they're so good that people don't have problems with them.

what exactly happens if you change cpus? I take it you've tried later BIOSs. Never heard of that happening. Have heard of a particular cpu (like morgan) not working, but not all except for the indervidual one it has in it.

From memory (when he posted this problem on the old forums), the computer would not boot @ all with any other CPU except the Durrie 600.
He tried very single option, old BIOS, new BIOS, take off the CMOS battery, etc........ But no joy.

I had an Epox 8K7A+ :) , was the best board I ever owned.. then I had an Epox 4SDA+.. and that was a sweet board too. I own an Abit BD7-RAID now, and its had heaps of probs, getting better with beta bios's tho.. Im thinking of getting an Epox 4G4A+ (http://www.epox.com/html/english/products/motherboard/ep-4g4a+.htm) now :D

So why did you get an Abit BD7 when you already had the Epox 4SDA+ MrThc?
It just seems strange.......

I brought it form Lycan in the old forums, dunno if hes i the new ones. Yeah its still covered.
Stranger still, he was running an Athlon in the same board.........meh, i'll get there.
I'll stick with EPoX, like ya say, good for oc'ing and as time has gone on good for stability.
Never used anything else to be honest either......

I don't think they will be producing an 333a chipset per se, you may have heard there are CD and CE revisions of 333. Boards that were out very early like the soltek DRV5 used the CD revision and they sucked for OC'ing boards that came out later like EPox and Abit used the CE revision. So essentially the 333a is already out.. the next chipset will be KT 400 i believe.
Epox and Abit both make top notch boards.. Epox are cheaper then Abit, that's about the only significant difference between the two..

Yeah - though that hasn't been the case for very long.
Epox used to be a budget board maker ( back when high-end boards were either Asus or Abit ). Their first really good board was the EP-8KTA3, a KT133A board.
And yep, I was one of the well-informed customers that did their homework, saw it was good, and bought one :). My first socket-A board. Paired with an Athlon 1GHz, it scream compared to my old PII-400 ( except at Delta Force, which is so heavily Intel optimised that the PII was a similar speed  ).
Very stable board that. And luckily, they've only improved since :).

Agree Totally KingJackal: I just tok out my 8KTA3L+ in favour of an Iwill XP333, and wish I didn't:rolleyes: Sure the PC2700 DDR ram I have now makes the XP333 faster, but the Epox was SUCH fun to play with, and fast for its time: I had it running a 155MHz FSB, and thats with a gigabyte of mixed no-name branded ram. Great fun. I honestly cannot wait to throw the Iwill away
