/me points to FAQ (http://forums.overclockers.co.nz/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1096). :)
everything you need to know should be in there.

changing your multiplier is as simple as changing a jumper/dip switch setting on your motherboard or a setting in bios. your motherboard manual should tell you too. :p

got a manual with that or do we have to dl it ourselves?
you need to se it to a 4.5 or 5x multiplier, it written in the manual which switch/jumper that is set by, soo look there

by the way, ali m1541 is the chipset, not the motherboard. and to be honest, i dont think you'll get very much out of it but i never had a K62 so i couldn't be sure.
good luck :)

Do be warned though, those K6 series CPU's are pretty toasty, and do not overclock well.....
All the same, good luck :)

Gut cooling? A thermal sensor will come in handy too, so your chip doesnt frizzle up even you have cooling, temp sensors on your mobo arnt that accurate there around +- 10 degrees C while a senfu thermal probe witch can be purchased at www.stylespc.com ( there newzealand) will look after your tempritures there 24 bux ;)

hey there, what particular motherboard brand and model is it?

the ali m1541 is in my opinion a complete ARSE of a chipset (my previous computer used that chipset.. Gigabyte GA-5AX to be precise)

as for k6-series cpu's.. if youre lucky you could hit 600 but dont hold your breath.. 450 - 500 would be more realistic

just follow your mobo manual's instructions on how to swap multipliers.. a mobo of that age should have it done via jumpers or dip switches, just push your mult up .5 at a time

that is change it from 4.0 to 4.5 and see if you get 450, then from 4.5 to 5.0 and see if you can get 500.. make sure you can boot into windows and do everything fine.

cooling.
on my old k6-2 (which is my parents machine now) i have installed a fop32 with an 80mm fan and it still gets warm.. so you'll want to get a similar or better cooler on your k6-3.. perhaps a wbk68

look forward to your response :D
