That's right, a whole OS, GUI based like Windows, browse the web and more from 1x 1.44 MB floppy disk.
It's called QNX and it's quite neat to play around with and it's a fast download.
The 1.44MB version has some demos's, and web software and you can even run it off a floppy drive. There are also more elaborate versions too.
Here's their website:

i had a look at it a while ago, but I think I had problems setting it up,
are you using it?

pretty cool huh, I played around with the first few versions of that one.
They also have a full software supported version of it, has qutie few more apps with it.
But amazing that they can do even that much from a floppy.
Another fun alternative os is BEOS.
Anyone else played with it, I think Paul Okenfold uses it as most of his music sounds like its from the samples you get with an app that comes for beos (I think is called beatmix or something similar).
But anyway its pretty sweet, has native OpenGL support (cant find any games tho, just demos), and a couple of good free video and audio editing tools.

I gave that demo a go :). All that I can say is "damn crappy winmodem POS". There ain't a lot that can be done without having web access. :(

this must be the same QNX that is used for industrial applications ?
Probably just a cutdown versions huh? I remember seeing a guy at work tooling around with the OS. It was being used on a PC collecting machine data... like voltages, movement etc.

I am confused. It fits on a 1.44mb floppy, yet the download is 200mb http://apolyton.net/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif
Can someone link to a smaller download. My 28k rural connection doesn't like big files :D .
